Slums in Tanzania


Hawajui maana ya slums wanapiga picha ya kanyumba kamoja, halafu wanasema hii ni slums...... picha ya eneo kubwa ndiyo inaonesha kama ni slum au unplanned settlements...... kwa watu wanoifahamu Makongo juu au survey (Mlalakuwa) wataelewa nina maanisha nini ninaposema Tz hakuna slums

Mimi kama Mtanzania hali hii inaniumiza roho wala sipati cha kujivunia eti kwa sababu tu slums za Kenya na za India ni chafu zaidi.

Mara nyengine inatia kinyaa zaidi kuona uyoga wa majumba makubwa mazuri yamezungukwa na uchafu wa aina hii.
Rushwa inaiangamiza, inaimaliza na inaiabisha Tanzania.

East Africa did not make us successful, we made ourselves successful. Your argument is weak simply because Indians are successful everywhere not just in East Africa. Indians are successful in UK, Canada, US, even in India whose economy will soon surpass UK and France.
 


No they have it all wrong! Slums is not synonymous with unplanned or informal settlements! Indeed Tanzania boosts of high quality housing in unplanned settlements such as what you see in Makongo. Slums connote a housing that has decayed, going bad, which is typical of old settlements and especially those in poor areas where the poor eke out a living from whatever little there is - and hence the kind of housing that they keep tends to be very temporal and devoid of anything that you would refer to as promoting or maintaining good and health living. Nice planned housing areas can also get into decay to the extent they become slums, they first get blighted (starting decaying) usually as a result of overcrowding and resulting old and non-maintained infrastructure.

Tanzania may have up to 70% of its urban population in unplanned areas but with a very small margin of slums! The nyumba za mabondeni and a few other areas in Buguruni, and 'quarters' of Michikichini and Magomeni for example could merit the status of 'slums' but not what you see in Makongo, Mlalakuwa and even Manzese

Nilijibu bila kufahamu wanaodai Tanzania ina slum kwa kiwango cha kutisha ni kina nani. Baada ya kutembelea tovuti lao nimegundua ni wale waganga njaa! NGOs ambazo ni lazima waweke chumvi kuonyesha hali ni mbaya ili waonewe huruma na ma-partners kutoka nchi za Ulaya. Niliwahi pia kuona Chuo chenye uwezo mkubwa ajabu kwa maana ya maliwatu(human resources), ardhi na weleji uliotukuka, lakini viongozi wake wakawa wameweka kwenye mipango ya Chuo kuwa hakina uzoefu, hakina maabara, madarasa eti waonewe huruma wapewe misaada. Kumbe, wakati ule kilichohitajika ni kudhihirisha uwezo ili wapewe kazi ya kuwafunza waheshimiwa kutoka nchi mojawapo za Afrika Mashariki! Walikosa wakabaki na kulalamikia umaskini wao.

CCI wanajua UN Habitat na World Urban Forum na nchi nyingi za Scandinavia zina mipango ya kusaidia kurekebisha hali za watu wanaoishi katika mazingira magumu. Ili waonekane wana kazi kubwa Tanzania ni kuonyesha hali ni mbaya kiasi kikubwa- sio kweli! Waache kutuletea aibu. Huwezi ukatulinganisha na Mumbai ambao wana slums za kutisha kama kule Dharavi au kule Brazil- wao wanaziita favela(na kama uliangalia ITV jana walikuwa na documentary nzuri sana kuhusiana na favela za kule RIO!).

Hawa sio tofauti na Vasco daGama ambaye anatutangazia umaskini wa kufa mtu ili apate vidola vichache, wanatufanya tusahau kujituma ili tuendelee! WALAANIWE!
 
many indians in Africa they don't like to go back to their homeland which is richer than E.Africa because most off them are in the lower class of their religion classes, so they enjoy being bosses here and steal our riches and bring to our children cocaine to be rich faking their bussiness by having small shops of gift papers, flowers and candy while they drive range rovers. At least in TZ they are afraid of being sent back to their home again as Nyerere did so they bribe NHC official to stay in govt building which actually they pay a low amount of rent which is not even worthy enough for a tanzanian to rent a room in those which you call slums. We know everything what you are fellows do and we are making another Nyereres to sent you back with your cocaine. Be watchful.
 

You are dreaming my friend. Indians have been in Tanzania before Nyerere, during Nyerere, and after Nyerere. Only mad man Idi Amin managed to remove large number of Indians but guess what? Museveni begged us to come back because the Ugandan economy was destroyed after we left. We will always be in East Africa because we both (Indians and East Africans) benefit. We get rich but we also improve East Africa's economy.

Why is it a problem for me to point out that Indians are successful? I am not saying all Indians are successful but I am saying many Indians are successful. So what's the big deal?

No big deal. Hebu jaribu kuandika kwa kiswahili ili tuelewane. Au kama unavyojifanya mhindi koko hebu jaribu kuringia lugha ya "kwenu". Watu wenye kasumba za kikoloni ni watu wanyonge na wenye ufinyu wa fikra!
 

Of course hatuwezi kukimbia tatizo, suala ni kulikabili. Kuacha suala la makazi katika mikono ya watu binafsi badala ya serikali kulibeba (kwa maana ya kupima maeneo yote muhimu kwa mazi na kugawa viwanja) ni kosa sana kwa serikali, wakazi wengi sana wa mijini hasa Dar Es Salaam wana makazi duni sana. Nadhani mafuriko ya mwaka jana yametuonesha udhaifu wetu katika mpangilio wa makazi.

Nisingepenga kuamini kuwa matumizi yetu ya akili ni madogo na ndio maana hatuoni haja ya planning. Hiyo 20% ya mji wa Dar es Salaam (kwa mfano) aliyo planned leo ni ile iliyoachwa na Mwalimu na nyongeza kidogo kabla ya wengi wetu kuamini kuwa ilikuwa ni 'taboo'/mwiko kwa mswahili kuwa na an open space, barabara za kufika mlangoni nk

India will never have the strong economy or be strong nation if only all Indians were to go back to their India and built that country rather than that you will keep populating other nations with your eagerness of getting immigration visa.

The successfull Indians abroad (NRI) you're talking here must be the working class not more or less.

INDIA GDP: $1,843.156 TRILLION

TANZANIA GDP: $29.012 BILLION

INDIA GDP PER CAPITA: $1527.00

TANZANIA PER CAPITA: $560.00

You can NOT compare the two! The average Indian and remember this is the 2 largest population in the world is 3 times as wealthy than the average Tanzanian and India is the 10th largest economy in the world. Ubishi wa bure!
 
Watanzania wenzangu hapa JF wamepanuka vifua! Hauwezi linganisha Tanzania na India, kumbuka asilimia 82.2 (82.2%) ya Watanzania make less than $1.24 a day and we are classified as an LCD country (Least Developed country). Acheni ubabe!

Kuna ukweli kwa maoni yako but this is not a competition who has the biggest slum.Masaki yenyeye hamna planning. Dar is a mess and the government must make a plan for the city that must be followed by all including rich Indians.
