Real Madrid haven't had so many Spaniards since 2004
Dani Ceballos' transfer to Real Madrid means that the number of Spanish players in Zinedine Zidane's squad has risen to 13, a number Los Blancos haven't boasted since the coach's own playing days.

Not since 2004 have Real Madrid had so many players from Spain in their squad, when they also had 13.

Given the current squad size of 25, this means that there are currently more domestic players than foreign players on the books at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Specifically, the players making up this baker's dozen of Spaniards are Kiko Casilla, Ruben Yanez, Dani Carvajal, Jesus Vallejo, Sergio Ramos, Nacho, Isco, Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente, Alvaro Morata, Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio and Borja Mayoral.

This has been a plan of Florentino Perez, whose 2006 departure was marked by a decrease of Spanish players from 12 to nine, with the president having now increased that number since his 2009 return.

Sergio Ramos trains alone upon arrival

Having been allowed to arrive six days after the rest of his Real Madrid teammates, Sergio Ramos made up for lost time as soon as he touched down in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The club captain worked out in a solo training session at the UCLA facilities where Los Blancos have been training over the past week.

With the rest of the players having been put through their paces by fitness coach Antonio Pintus, the defender clearly hopes to get up to speed as soon as possible.

Following some stretching, he then sweated it out with some continuous running.

Two Spain friendlies are being investigated after FA president Villar's arrest

Spanish FA president Angel Maria Villar was arrested early on Tuesday morning as part of an anti-corruption operation and friendlies involving the Spain national team are now being looked at by the authorities.

The Spain vs Bosnia match which took place in Switzerland on May 29, 2016, and the Spain vs South Korea fixture held in Austria just a few days later on June 1, 2016, have both been circled in red.

Both of those friendlies were preparation matches for Euro 2016 and, according to El Pais, they have been flagged as suspicious.

It is alleged that Villar may have organised these matches with the aim of obtaining "compensation for the contracting of services and other commercial relationships which benefitted his son Gorka, a specialist in sports law".
