Public Debate on Land Grabbing in Tanzania

"Once beaten twice shy" i guess you are aware of this phrase. Do you think we will let you do what you did in 1977? Have you forgoten that Charles wa Njonjo was the master mind of the death of EAC after making sure all the trains and jets are in Kenya?
Experiance shows that the victimizer forgets easly but the victimized person will never forget.
STAY AWAY FROM US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WILL SORT OUR OWN PROBLEMS INTERNALL!!!! JUST GO TO SOUTHERN SUDAN PLEASE. YES WE HAVE OUR PROBLEMS BUT THEY CAN BE SORTED OUT EASLY THAN YOUR PROBLEM.

Kenyans are not obsessed with Tanzania, not the Tanzanian people at least, we have interest with the land maybe but nothing more than that. what my friend mkenya mzalendo is trying to say is that Tanzania would rather dish out land to Asians (who will only employ Tanzanians as manual laborers, and use bad farming practices to maximize on the profits) than lease the same to fellow east Africans, he is not complaining but just airing an observation. Kenya's arable land is quite small, all those that have visited Kenya can attest to this fact, land grabbing since the Kenyatta, Moi and now Kibaki ''error'' has made matters worse. our ''good neighbors'' on the other hand have large tracts of idle arable land, that due to their inherent laziness they cant utilize fully but wont allow an east African to squatter on that land for an agreed amount of money and period of time.

i have come to a conclusion that the EAC will not work if Tanzania keep holding grudges against Kenya and intentionally blocking businessmen and investors from doing their trade in Tanzania. It wont take long before Tanzania realizes that it has goofed in many of its policies against East African countries, coz you are definitely being raped by the Arab, West and Asian world, watch this space people.

So if someone denies his property is an ethnocentric? What about Kenyattas and the like who screwed you up? The fact that i don't use all my land, it doesn't mean i don't need it. Wapumbavu tu nyie, TZ won't be the solution of your problems. You said you know business, go ahead and do it! And Do it good! Don't poke you noses in things you have nothing to do with. Even those intruders will face justice! Observe the word justice! You thought EAC will work for you, no it won't. No land, go back to your 3/4 desert country!

i love how your blind patriotism clouds your judgement, Id rather read trolls at CNN's comment section than read your emotional blubbers. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon bro, and quit being so emotional, sh*t aint personal, this is the internets.. sheeesh.. and there is nothing that Tanzanians can do bro, you are too lazy to even demonstrate after your votes were stolen.. waswahili bana

Yes, TzPride! Why are you lamenting about TZ leasing land to Bangladeshans? You don't see any problem for the case of Uganda and Gambia! Jasusi, that overwhelming desires of you Kenyans to acquire land in Tz is what worries us. For God's sake, give us a break.....get the land somewhere else i.e South Sudan at least they can cope with your usual clashes over the land.
TZPride,

Bangladeshi companies say they have leased thousands of hectares of farmland in Africa as part of their efforts to avoid future food shortages.

Two Bangladeshi companies have already signed deals to lease unused cultivable land in Uganda, Tanzania and Gambia.

Another agreement to lease around 30,000 hectares for 99 years will be signed with the Tanzanian government later this week.

Officials say African countries have huge amounts of unused cultivable land.

At the same time they say that Bangladesh has the manpower and expertise to produce staple crops all year round.

'Food security'
Under the plans, the Contract Farming System will enable Bangladeshi companies to get at least 60% of the produce.

In return Bangladesh will train African farmers in rain-fed rice cultivation, seed conservation and irrigation.

It is hoped that the new arrangement will increase food productivity and enable the country's expanding workforce to be deployed in Africa's farming sector.

"Basically this idea is mainly for proper management of our food security," said Wahidur Rahman, a senior Bangladeshi foreign ministry official.

S Korea 'in Tanzania land deal'
"We are thinking of expanding our agriculture, but we do not have enough land to cultivate. Because of this we are thinking Africa may be the destination for our agriculture production."

Bangladesh is the world's fourth largest producer of rice and it harvested around 34 million tonnes last year.

Although the country produces enough to feed its population of 160 million people, it faces shortages at times because of natural disasters.

Officials say apart from rice there is also scope to cultivate other crops such as wheat and cotton in Africa.

Huu mzaha mzaha tutakujakujuta baadae watoto wetu watakapoanza kutusuta.

BBC News - Bangladeshi companies launch Africa farm lease plan

Nchi inauzwa taratibu.

Ooh, spoiled then! No Tanznian will accept the idea of giving out land to Kenyans, they are too greedy. It won't take long before wer start fighting over that land. They only solution is to keep Kenyans out of land issues. Imagine the way they tried hard to penetrate it into common customs isssues...it had no relevance at all......any one can suspected the motive behind is not good.

Tuligongwa nyoka mwaka 1977, sasa hata jani tu linatushitua. Watu gani mpaka enzi hizi wao kutwanga mapanga ni kawaida... to hell with greedy Kenyan Nyang'aus.

Yes we have unused land!!

But are the owner of that land are aware with this contract??, namaanisha wananchi wa Vijijini ambao ndio beneficialy wa hii ardhi!? actually hawajui hata nini kinaendelea ila wao wanajazwa matumaini ya kuwa jamii itanufaika na mradi huu kwa kupata ajira.

HARARE, Zimbabwe
