Masses Lakeside grounds in Jinja city is where we have wound up our first campaign rally. The turn up has been massive. We preached our message of freedom and rallied the people of Jinja City and Busoga at large to be part of the protest vote by voting for the umbrella symbol at all electoral levels. Jinja was once an industrial hub, and that is one of the key issues that the NUP government shall tackle once we are entrusted with the people’s mandate to steer this nation ahead. Before embarking on our journey to Luwero for our campaign, we have briefed the media about our reaction to the recent remarks by the Inspector General of Police Mr. Abbas Byakagaba who glorified his police for brutalizing us during campaigns on grounds that we allegedly flout campaign guidelines. He claimed we hold rallies past campaign time, hold processions and ‘provoke’ the police.

Of course these are broad daylight lies aimed at sanitizing the criminal actions of the police. I have personally emphasized non violence in all my campaign messages and that alone debunks the police lies that we are ‘violent and provocative’. The police has been a conduit to time wastage in our campaign as you have been witnessing the barricades they erect in our journeys to keep us on the road for more hours than we would have used. On the other side, we have been seeing regime candidates like Nabbanja campaigning in the night but of course they won’t pay attention to that.

The police claim we hold processions but just yesterday, Mr. Museveni held a procession in Mbarara moreover using the police trucks to ferry people to rallies and even blocked roads. It is absurd that the same police does not follow the guidelines. On allegations that ‘we beat the police’, this is very false because everything we do is captured on camera and happens in broad daylight. The camera has been our weapon from day one and we have been using it to expose the criminal regime injustices.

We have returned to Lango sub region today for our scheduled presidential campaign. We were to start our campaigns in Amolatar but unfortunately our coordinators notified us that our first choice venue, the Amolatar Boma ground was denied at the eleventh hour by the District Security Committee without any justifiable reason. We however preached our revolutionary message to our supporters who gathered to listen to our message.

We then proceeded to Dokolo district after a long drive through remote dusty roads and held our final rally at Angawecibangi Primary School playground where we preached our message of unity and freedom. Thank you Lango for the warm reception!

Our ninth campaign week ends with a bloodshed in Gulu city. The regime has facilitated and enabled violence against us days after they shielded hired goons who vandalized our Gulu city based offices. We were meant to campaign in Gulu city this afternoon but we have been preceded by violence. Our campaign materials at the venue were vandalized by goons under tight UPDF and police watch moments prior to our arrival.

We were greeted by army war vehicles and police trucks parked along Airfield Road in Gulu City. Armed military operatives wielding sticks pounced on us and brutalized our campaign team leaving comrade Dan Magic and others sustaining injuries. We had to abandon our vehicles and footed for over 5 kilometers to our campaign venue. Thankfully, we addressed our comrades and issued our message to the security forces who have made it a hobby to brutalize and harass us during campaigns.
