NUP Welcomes Bobi Young After Months Detention

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has welcomed back its member Agaba Anthony, popularly known as Bobi Young, following his release from detention.

Bobi Young was violently abducted on 23rd May 2024 and has remained in custody until now. His detention drew widespread concern after he was pushed into pleading guilty before the military court to charges he is said not to have committed.

David Lewis Rubongota, NUP Secretary General, condemned the ordeal, saying the case highlighted the collapse of due process and the plight of political prisoners. He stressed that Bobi Young’s forced plea was unjust and underscored the urgent need for accountability.

NUP leaders expressed relief at his return but vowed to continue pressing for the freedom of all political prisoners.
