Networking , Programing and Database

networking lazima uwe unajua programming
database administator lazima uwe unajua programming
developer lazima uwe unajua programming

Naelewa unachosema.

networking lazima uwe unajua programming

database administator lazima uwe unajua programming
developer lazima uwe unajua programming

wacha utani unaweza kupata CCNA bila kujua cisco comand
unamaanisha ni click click tu...

Hello All

This is my 13th year in the IT industry. So I think I can add something of value:
Most of my academic and professional experience has been from abroad.

What education and professional experience has taught me is this: Engineering and science professions (of which, IT is one of them) require abstract thinking. As it has been pointed out, IT is a broad field. There are parts of this field that are not so abstract, such as hardware troubleshooting or helpdesk support. But, if you want to go higher in the field (being Networking, programming, or AI) you need to have a good academic foundation. This will enhance your ability to think in abstract.

Of all the subjects you will encounter in your academic pursuit, mathematics should be high in the list if you want to get a good foundation in abstract thinking. Mathematics will also help you in the understanding of different algorithm as they pertain to the IT field.

To give you an example, the following theories had great impact throughout my my profession:

Nyquist/Shannon sampling theorem: (better understanding Information theory, data signaling, bit rate, analog to digital convention, bandwidth issues, VoIP,
Quantization theory: VoIP issues &#8211; CODEC, Error rates, etc.
Shortest path first Algorithm: Link state protocols (OSPF, EIGRP)
Queuing theory: Server access, router performance &#8211; throughput/bottle neck, QoS (preferential treatment of traffic, RSVP protocol, )
The theory of light/light propagation/ Electromagnetism: Fiber Optics, Radio communication, wireless networks
Data structure Algorithm: Understanding of Operating systems
Network & Object-Oriented Programming: Routing protocols (a routing protocol is fundamentally a network program/application &#8211; allowing remote devices to exchange routing information.
Statistics : Understating device performance on service provision &#8211; rate of arrival and queuing

Now, in no way do I imply that I am applying each of these theories in my daily work, NO. The benefit is on the way I think when I do my work. How I look at the whole system, and the related problems. This has made it easier for me to progress, professionally.

There is another important thing that should not be overlooked, which makes the question on this thread even more relevant. I think the poster did not mean which pays the most, literary. I think he/she wants to know which field will allow him to be at an advantage in the Market place.

The key issue here is the market place. Different market have different IT skills requirements. Moreover, The IT skills needed for a particular market will change from time to time as the technology and the business environment changes.

In my humble beginnings 13 years ago, desktop support was a big deal. Users didn't even know how to print. And that was in Wall Street!

Kwahiyo mkuu/mwanangu, mimi nakushauri utilie makini yafuatayo:

1. Get the necessary academic foundation. Lakini usisome tuu just for the sake of studying.
Lionel Richie (yes, yule mtombanishaji) once said: "take your education and use it"

2. Always keep your ears to the ground to know what is relevant today/tomorrow.

3. Keep up with the field (read, read, read&#8230; trust me on this one)

4. And last but not least, you should do things, build things, design things, develop things.
This is the only way to get to the top. Usingoje kufundishwa

I am actually thinking about conducting a free class in Bongo to show the relationship between a particular school subject and on-the-job function. Sometimes education becomes so removed from the real world. My best professors where those who were working in the field.

I liked this part.

Wengi mnaboronga hapa.

Unachosema nikweli. Lakini ukweli huo usiishie hapo tu mwanangu.
Kama unania ya kufika mbali (to go up the food chain, kama wanyamwezi wa nyoko wanavyo sema), lazima uwe na uwezo wa critically thinking.

Ukijifuza lotus notes administration unaweza kupata kazi. Lakini kama kampuni ni kubwa, wataangalia back ground yako ili ku-determine if they should give you more responsibilities. Why? because if the system is the bloodline of their business, they cannot take risk with someone who just knows how to configure the domino (Lotus) server. No, they want you to be able to see the whole infrastructure in a deeper way. And more responsibilities come with more PAY!

Sasa kama unafanya kazi kwenye kampuni ndogo au where IT infrastructure is not part of the core business, then you will get by just fine. It is all about the market you are in, and where you see yourself in the near future.

Most university/colledge degrees don't just teach database management or just JAVA programming. You need also to learn how to think in abstract and soft skills (business skills, writing skills, communication skills, etc). One of the most important skill of any programmer is the ability to interact with the customer (application analysis) to know exactly what they need - not how you think the application should be designed. You will need to be able to write properly, especially when you are communicating with upper management who have no clue of the technology, but they control the funds.

Again, the upper you want to go in the food chain, the more rounded you should be. But, you must also find your niche - your area of expertise; be it Database admin, Programmer, Network eng, IT manager, etc.

Kwenye IT kuna watu wa aina 10. Those who know binary, and those who don't.

Mtu aliyefanya Mechanical Engineering kufanya IT sishangai. Lakini ina depend anafanya nini maana IT ni pana. Bongo hatuna IT huo ndo ukweli. tunababaisha babaisha tu ili mradi siku ziende. Kufanya configurations za mail server au dns au dhcp any body can do it akifundishwa. Kuna mabingwa wa politics za it na wanaitwa ma it expert. Huwezi kujivunia tuna IT wakati tuna local problems nyingi zinahitaji solutions na wataalamu wetu wanababaisha tu.

Regards

Umesema tunababaisha...mean kwamba system zinazo run zote bongo zimekuwa configure na wazungu thanks.Any way unaweza taja matatizo local kama hapo juu ulivyo sema...na umechukua juhudi gani wewe kama uliye weza yaona matatizo katika kuyatatua?Tuongee technicaly hapa sio kama siasa...japo kuwa tuko chini katika IT...ila tunaweza kufanya mambo yakaenda mzee...formating computer mimi kama mimi is not professional should be the last thing you can do the computer....

kwa nini Banks hazina working online platform za kueleweka?!EXIM,CRDB,NMB ni kama jokes..,you can actually do nothing online with their services..,i believe this is one thing wataalam wetu wa kitanzania wanaweza kufanya.
yani hakuna 3rd party integration kabisa, sio with paypal,authorise.net wala hao viza au mastercards.
sie tumekaa tu tunasubiri VIZA watuandikie API..,
na hapa naongelea credit cards, hizo debit cards ndio kabisa wala sio za kuziongelea...useless.
also why the hell tunaendelea kutumia 4 digits passwords?kwa nini TTCL hawajaestablish IP cards hadi leo?
Maisha ya watanzania ni magumu kwa sababu hamna anayetaka kuyaboresha, kila mtu anataka kuboresha ya kwake(this will never work).
people, professionals, entrepreneurs should focus on solving problems and creating scalable solutions sio quick riches and high pay.
Yani nyie ndio wataalam wa kitanzania badala ya kuongelea solutions mna-discuss how to get high pay!duh..,
success comes with a successful solution,Google prospered because they had a better solution to a search engine.they are who they are now because they focused on having a better search engine to eliminate dubious search results, and not having a quick IPO.this is how we should think in a country as underdeveloped as ours.
we have enormous problems,we need scalable and dynamic solution to each problem.(technology ones).
jamani wataalam wa Kitanzania, what have you contributed to Tanzania,What project have you accomplished that helped solved a particular problem in the current society?!
we don't have a silicon valley so,i guess the only place to meet IT proffesionals in TZ is either UD,tech colleges,or IT Companies.
a problem is,among all the places i have mentioned hakuna solution hata moja obvious niliyoiona from those IT guys outta there.
as said before, kuformat computer, kutengeneza server mbovu au kulay out a LAN topology sio kuwa IT prof.and definetly sio wale maafisa uhusiano/masoko sijui product manager wa VODA,ZAIN,TIGO.
it is sad to see a computer engineering graduate work as a company marketing officer or a product manager!very dissapointing.
we should know our position in the world,we can't innovate,we can't produce even a USB wire(DAMN!),at least let's integrate and make use of available resources.
as i always say..,IT and technology in TZ iko shitty because we don't have a real economy.makampuni ya Tech yako tanzania kama MADUKA tu!!hawajaja hapa ku-cooperate,au ku-research.they know better,no wonder our tech heaven ni VODA,TIGGO, and other mobile companies with zero R&D in TZ!!
their biggest effort ni kuchangia yatima......,aaaaagh.can't we do this?
why don't vodacom establish a research center?and send those money there?
they know zitaliwa..,they know watanzania hatuko interested, they believe sie ni consumers forever..,naive ones.
WITO kwa wataalamu wa IT,kama wapo, stop dreaming of big salaries and focus on solutions to your society!u will get even bigger rewards.
with so many problems we have i could give 100 IT problems to each IT professional to find a solution to and yet i could remain with thousands of problems with no one to give to..,odd enough no one is working at any particular solution now and we are just as happy.bidding for high pay!
heart breaking.

Nchi nyingi you get paid good money to choose your own means of transportation and where to stay.

Vilevile core functionalities za Geologist sio ku-maintain IT infrastructure.

Iam trying my best nilipo na kila organization niliyowahi kufanya kazi wananikubali mkuu ha ha ha mpaka kesho kutwa. Na sasa hivi ndo naingia kwenye enterpreneurship. i see a lot of opprtunities to make big money kwa knowledge niliyonayo
