Tumia solar inverter VFD Ambayo it a vary speed ya pump depending on sun intensity from 300w to 1200w hence not necessarily Kua na masolar mengi and no battery at all.

Horsepower hapo itakuwa at least 2HP AU HATA 3HP to be safe.
All in all, you are better off na generator ya 3kvA unaipata kwa laki tano., unaweka wese na kupandisha maji when needed.

You are right. But starters zilidizainiwa kwa shida hii.

Your proposed system incur unecessary costs.

Unaongeza PV panels na battery just kusupport starting current? Fundi anafunga hivo but an Engineer can not. And that looks unskilled work.

Stuffs does not work that way.

You can not just run a pump from battery (limited knowledge work), that is not how electrical engineering works. (Reliability & cost) huja ziconsider. By the way, i have MSc in electrical engineering. If you want to learn, i am open. Usimshauri jamaa afunge hivyo unavosema. There is no sysems without design, hence calculus can not be omitted here brah!!

Labda ungesoma conclusion yangu, ndiyo ungejibu na kuirekebisha. Since you have a MSc, basi utakuwa umeandika na kupitia papers nyingi.
Conclusion huwa zinakuwa mwisho.
Sijataka kuongelea VFD kwa sababu mimi sina uzoefu nazo.
Sasa ongea kisayansi, utueleweshe the most cost effective way than a 3KvA gas generator, wakati ushaambiwa anayo pump.
Tuwekee mahesabu ya kiukweli kwa sababu kusema tu 300W panels kwa mtu wa kawaida, inaweza ikawa ni misleading bila kueleza costs nyinginezo na what kind of technical know-how mtu awe nayo.
At the end of the day hiyo calculation aliyofanya based on jibu alilopewa siyo factual. Kanusha hilo kisayansi hapa.

Well per customer's data.

Pump: 1hp, 230VAC
Usage: 4+ hrs a day.

I would flow the design as follows:

Load analysis:-
1hp =746w
Under max load (assume max flowrate) take it 900w.

So my Amperage =900/230~4A

So i need 900W power at 230VAC and max of 4A.

Energy for 4+hrs =900/1000*4=3.6+kWh

You need 3.6+kWh electrical units for 4+hrs operation.

Power source selection:-

1. TANESCO
Take, 1kWh =350 TZS
For 3.6kWh you'll need 350*3.6= TZS 1260

So you will have TZS 0 as a capital (if you already have electricity and farm in your town's backyard) and a minimum of TZS 1260 as running cost everyday for TANESCO.

2. 3kVA generator

Purchase: say < TZS 350k
1 litre of petrol =9.5 kWh of energy (~)when completely burnt.

Thermodynamic rules: No petrol engine above 20% efficiency.

usable energy 20%*9.5 kWh=1.9kWh

To every gasoline litre you will have 1.9kWh, to have 3.6kWh (for 4+hrs operation) required you will need ~ 2 litres of gasoline that translates to 2*3260 = TZS 6520 every day (considering Ukraine-Russia war oil price)

3. Solar PV:-

VFD: 1.3m
I would go with a 200W PV panel.

At an irradiance of 1000w per sq.m standard laboratory test you get that rated 200W.

But assume my location can go as high as 900w per sq.m on a clear sky day i will have 180W out of 200w rated. And if it manage 400w per sq.m as min. Irradiance for 3-4 hrs i have 80w out of every 200w rated Panel. That is 400w and VFD would work out that 400w to the pump providing reduced flowrate. Yah that makes sense now.

180*5 equals 0.9kWh every hr, 3.6kWh required will be delivered within 4hrs on a clear sky.

If irradiace goes under 900w per sq.m then that is where an VFD comes in. It is MPPT powered, gonna have a field day there.
Delivering any Watts received from a panel to the load at a varying speed and that is for longer hours than rated until sundown.

For 900w load i wil need 5 PV panels at 200W rated.

1W PV is around TZS 1150

Five of 200W PV panels i need to have TZS 1.15m.

----------------
Assuming a constant loss of 2-3% in each power source.

And for irrrigation purpose a system should run 365 days.

Lets discuss here:

1. TANESCO:
Capital TZS 0 (assuming you have meter already.)
Running cost TZS: 1260*365 = 459,900

2. Gasoline generator:
Capital TZS: 350,000
Running cost: 6520*365=2,379,800

3. Solar PV
Capital TZS: 1.15m+1.3m =2,450,000
Running cost TZS: 0*365=0

------------
If we take a remote farm location (which is true always) then TANESCO energy is out of equation. That leaves gasoline and PV sources.

If the pump flowrate capacity is 60 litre per minute. Then at hour is 360litres and 4+hrs is 1440litres. Thats less than 2,000 water tank.

That is the limit of TANESCO and gasoline generator sources. Exceeding that, you edit the running costs of the no.s 1 &2 above.

While solar can give 3600litres for 10 straight clear sky sun-hours at TZS 0 running cost.

Plus
I did not include replacement cost and maintenance in general in each system, neither reliability nor extreme cases. Return cost, profit and any economic+enginering complicated scenarios.

Mkuu hapa ulinitendea haki kabisa maana ulipita kila Kona
