I am going to go on record for saying that I DO NOT SUPPORT the choice of Mizengo Pinda as the new Prime Minister, for the following reasons:
1) He is being cited as someone who is responsible and accountable? On what basis is he being given this credit? If we take a cursory look at his Ministry, TAMISEMI, how many cases of embezzlement, fraud and pilferage of public funds have there been in the Municipalities and District Councils all over Tanzania, with the perpetrators getting off with impunity?
2) More on TAMISEMI... a lot of public funds allocated towards the construction of schools, under the TASAF, MMEM programmes, which were diverted to non-existing municipality/district programmes, as a result, wananchi are being forced to fork out their meager funds out of pocket... the poor getting poorer...
3) There was a case where a very poor woman was forced to give birth at the office of a Ward Executive Officer, simply because she was under "custody" for having failed to pay her "contribution" towards the construction of secondary school classrooms... todate nothing has been heard about the woman, not even an apology or compensation has been given to her, for the traumatic experience she underwent... the Ward Executive Officer? Most certainly he/she is still in place...
So, what kind of responsibility or accountability are we talking about when we shower Pinda with those praises?
In my view, our President, Jakaya Kikwete, and his advisors, did not do their due dilligence on Mizengo Pinda... also, the very short time taken to choose a "valid" PM was not enough.
Hate me for my opinion, differ with me if you must, but we are headed for gloomier times...
No, I am not a fan of ANY CCM Members of Parliament, and I look at opposition MPs with a very careful magnifying glass...
But, at least, Laurence Masha could have been a valid candidate.
