Manchester united have been valued as the richest club in the world, according to Forbes 2011 Soccer Valuation, a new survey.For the seventh consecutive year Manchester United is No1 on the Forbes list ranking the most valuable football teams, with a value of $1.86bn (£1.13bn).
Forbes released the list, which will be featured in the 9 May issue of the magazine, on Wednesday.

Real Madrid are again No2 with a value of $1.45bn, followed by Arsenal at $1.19bn, Bayern Munich at $1.1bn and Barcelona, who drop one spot to No5, with a value of $975m.

Nike emerge as key to Wesley Sneijder completing £35.2m transfer from Inter to Manchester United

Sportswear giants prepared to help facilitate move to Old Trafford by closing the gap between United's offer and Dutchman's wage demands, which are threatening to derail talks


The US-based firm sponsor Sneijder and supply the Premier League champions' kit and could be ready to step in and pay a percentage of the Dutchman's wages to ensure the club record transfer goes through.

Nike did the same when Brazilian striker Ronaldo made his move from Barcelona to Inter while their commercial rivals Adidas, who sponsor Real Madrid, were heavily involved in smoothing through the transfers of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham to the Bernabeu.

United have been trying to secure a deal for Sneijder this week, with chief executive David Gill staying behind from the club's pre-season tour of the US to hold talks with senior Inter officials in Milan.

Bert van Marwijk, the Holland coach, has stepped into the £40million transfer wrangle to tell the Dutch midfielder he can ­become an even greater player at Manchester United – even if it means taking a pay cut!

Van Marwijk said: "A transfer to United will do Wesley a lot of good. He will benefit as a player from playing for them.
"With Real Madrid and Inter Milan he has already the biggest club names in football on his cv. But Manchester United will be another big step up the ­international ladder for him.
