Kwa mujibu wa Tume ya Maadili na Kupambana na Rushwa (EACC), maafisa waliokamatwa akiwemo Inspekta wa Polisi walikuwa wakiomba Rushwa kutoka kwa Madereva katika Barabara Kuu ya Thinka - Garissa.
Kukamatwa kwao kunafuatia Malalamiko yaliyowasilishwa na mmoja wa Madereva kupitia (EACC) na kueleza kuwa mmoja wa Maafisa amekuwa akiwambia wakitoa kiasi hicho cha Fedha ataondoa mashtaka ya mmoja wa Madereva na kuachia mzigo walioukamata.
Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa EACC, Twalib Mbarak ametoa wito kuharakishwa kwa mfumo wa Uongozaji Magari unaojiendesha wenyewe "Automatic Traffic Sytem" ili kudhibiti Rushwa Barabarani pamoja na kuongeza uadilifu na ufanisi wa Sheria za Trafiki.

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested five National Police Service (NPS) officers for soliciting bribes from Kenyans.
Four of the five namely, Deborah Ngila, Rosemary Nyokabi, Robert Kabiru and Christine Chebon, were apprehended for demanding bribes from motorists on the Thika-Garissa Highway.
The final suspect, Police Inspector Joash Rotich Koriese, was arrested in Kisumu after demanding a Ksh.500,000 bribe from a complainant who had earlier reported the matter to EACC.
"In Kisumu, EACC arrested Inspector of Police Joash Rotich Koriese of Kisumu Central Police Station who had demanded Ksh.0.5 million bribe in order to withdraw charges against a transporter and release detained goods. He attempted to resist arrest by EACC officers," said EACC.
EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak on his part has called for the automation of Kenya's current traffic system as a means to tame corruption on roads and improve the integrity and effectiveness of traffic laws locally.
"Calling for automation of traffic law enforcement as a reform measure, CEO Twalib Mbarak noted that corruption on Kenyan roads, which has now changed from bribery to extortion, is denting the image of the country and should stop," said the EACC.
"Motorists are expected to comply with all traffic laws and regulations and report any cases of bribe demands to EACC through Toll Free Line 1551. The operation continues."
