Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that Iran "is a bigger problem than ISIS.
Kissinger explained that because Iran has a stronger footing in the Middle East, it has a greater opportunity to create an empire.The borders of the settlement of 1919-'20 are essentially collapsing," he said. "That gives Iran a very powerful level from a strategic point of view. I consider Iran a bigger problem than ISIS. ISIS is a group of adventurers with a very aggressive ideology. But they have to conquer more and more territory before they can became a strategic, permanent reality. I think a conflict with ISIS - important as it is - is more manageable than a confrontation with Iran.

Iran’s Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan insists that the Israeli regime will no longer be able to achieve victory in any future war while hailing heroic victory of Palestinian resistance fighters during the latest Zionist onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip.

“The occupying Zionist regime will no longer be the victor of any war, and it does not even have the power to decide about engaging in a new war, and their threats are merely a political bluff,” said Gen. Dehqan on Monday.
The Iranian defense minister praised the capabilities of Palestinian resistance groups, saying that they have the upper hand and can achieve their goals in the face of Israeli threats.

Israel’s “humiliating” defeat in its deadly war on the blockaded Gaza Strip shows the failure of Washington’s policies, said Dehqan, stressing that the time has come for the US to accept the realities on the ground in the Middle East and stop supporting Tel Aviv and meddling in the region’s affairs.

“Any new adventurism by Israel in the region will definitely take this fake regime closer to the end of its…life and will strengthen the resolve of Palestinian resistance groups to respond to Tel Aviv’s warmongering,” Dehqan added.

The Israeli military unleashed aerial attacks on Gaza in early July and later expanded its military campaign with a ground invasion into the Palestinian strip. Over 2,130 Palestinians, including around 570 children, lost their lives and some 11,000 were injured in the raids.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has come under sharp criticism by many Israeli officials, including members of his own coalition, after reaching a truce deal with the Palestinian resistance groups on August 26.

Many in Israel believe that the regime has failed to establish a clear victory in the offensive, which took a heavy economic toll on Tel Aviv and killed nearly 70 Israeli soldiers.

Israel's ambassador to the United States said Wednesday that criticism of Secretary of State John Kerry's peace-making efforts is traceable to the country's "very rambunctious democracy" and not Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This is not coming from the prime minister," Ambassador Ron Dermer said in a nationally broadcast interview. "The prime minister appreciates" what Kerry has done in seeking a cease-fire in the Gaza war, Dermer said.
And he called the more than three-week conflict "a just war."
"I can't think of a more just war," Dermer said in a television appearance on MSNBC. "Hamas is no different than al-Qaeda. You can imagine what the American people would want their government to do."
Kerry earlier this week brushed off the criticism, telling reporters at the State Department that "I am not going to worry about personal attacks."
For his part, Dermer said Wednesday, "This is the Israeli press that is speaking. We are a free country."
"We have a coalition government," he said. "People have to understand this is a very rambunctious democracy." Dermer said he would be deserving of a prize if he could get Netanyahu out of a Knesset debate "without someone calling him a liar."
Speaking to reporters Monday at the State Department, Kerry noted he had a 100-percent pro-Israel voting record in the Senate and said he would not "take a second seat to anybody" in his devotion to Israel's security. Kerry also said he wouldn't be pushing for a ceasefire if Netanyahu hadn't asked him to.
"Prime Minister Netanyahu himself said to me, 'Can you try to get a humanitarian cease-fire for this period of time?' And if it weren't for his commitment to it, obviously the president of the United States and I would not be trying to make this effort," Kerry said.

Dermer argued that "87 percent" of the Israeli people are against a cease-fire, saying "I think the criticism you're seeing is a country at war, a free press."
