Dear comrades,
While many of us are very positive of the achievements of our Police "FORCE", I am rather skeptical of the trend to "militarise" the police, Prisons, Immigration and fire services in this country. To me, there should only be ONE "force" which is the JWTZ. The others should be Law enforcement agents that assist in restoring law and order in the country. Such trends have not been successful elsewhere in the world to provide peace and security.
Watching Commander Sirro yesterday in the TV gave me a notion that he had already prosecuted and convicted the victims which should be a matter for the Judiciary to determine. This is what they call "extrajudicial killings". The worrying words uttered by the commander that similar fate is bound to occur to whoever the Police force thinks and feel they are involved in the Mkuranga/Kibiti/Lindi murders leaves a lot of fears among the community. We all need peace and security and abhors the grisly murders of innocent civilians occurring in the districts, but whoever responsible should be brought to the courts of justice for determinations of whether they are innocent or guilty of the offenses.
I pray that wisdom will prevail among our law enforcement organs and permanent peace is brought in this beautiful part of our country.
Cheers
