Special forces ni vikosi maalum kwaajili ya kazi maalum. Kwa mfano; jeshi la marekani lina vikosi maalumu kama navy seals na delta force hivi ni vikosi vinavyotumika kwenye operation maalum ambazo huwezi kutumia jeshi kama operation ile iliyomuua Osama (navy seals walitumika) Urusi pia wana kikosi maalum, uingereza, Izrael(hawa jamaa walikitumia pia Uganda kuokoa Waizrael waliozuiliwa na Idd Amin) nk, Muuliza swali ameuliza kama tuna vikosi kama hivyo JWTZ? Kuna mtu hapo amesema ndio mfano jeshi la tanzania DRC, iliyopo DRC sio kikosi maalum bali ni kikosi cha kawaida cha jeshi. Special forces huwa inaundwa na team ya makomandoo wakiwa kwenye kikosi cha wapiganaji kati ya wa5 hadi 7, na wanaweza kuzidi hadi 15
