Upelelezi wa kesi ya uhujumu uchumi inayomkabili mwandishi wa habari nchini Tanzania, Erick Kabendera bado haujakamilika.
Kabendera anakabiliwa na mashtaka matatu likiwemo la kutakatisha Sh173milioni katika Mahakama ya Hakimu ya Hakimu Mkazi Kisutu.
Hayo yameelezwa leo Jumatano Desemba 18, 2019 na wakili wa Serikali mwandamizi, Wankyo Simon mbele ya Hakimu Mkazi Mkuu, Janeth Mtega.
“Kesi ilikuja kwa ajili ya kutajwa na upelelezi wake bado unaendelea tunaomba tarehe nyingine kwa ajili ya kutajwa" amedai wakili Simon.
Baada ya Simon kueleza hayo, Jebra Kambole ambaye ni wakili wa Kabendera ameomba upande wa mashtaka kukamilisha upelelezi kwa wakati ili kesi hiyo iweze kuendelea.
Amedai bado wanaendelea na mazungumzo na mkurugenzi wa mashtaka Tanzania (DPP) kuhusu barua ya kukiri na kuomba msamaha aliyoiandika Kabendera kwenda kwa DPP
"Kesi hii ilivyoahirishwa wiki mbili zilizopita mahakama ilituambia tufuatilie kwa DPP kujua mazungumzo yamefikia hatua gani, naomba niseme tu tumeshafanya hivyo na mazungumzo bado yanaendelea" alidai Kambole na kuongeza
" Tutaifahamisha mahakama hii kadri mazungumzo yatakavyokuwa yanaendelea" amedai Kambole.
Hakimu Mtega baada ya kusikiliza hoja za pande zote ameahirisha kesi hiyo hadi Januari 2, 2020 itakapotajwa tena.
Mshtakiwa amerudishwa rumande kutokana na mashtaka yanayomkabili kutokuwa na dhamana.
Kabendera alifikishwa Kisutu kwa mara ya kwanza Agosti 5, 2019 akikabiliwa na mashtaka matatu ambayo ni kuongoza genge la uhalifu, kukwepa kodi na kutakatisha zaidi ya Sh173.2 milioni.

INVESTIGATION OF KABENDERA’S CASE STILL RAW, DPP’S RESPONSE AWAITED.
The Economic Case against Independent Journalist, Erick Kabendera has been adjourned to 02 January 2020.
The case was mentioned before Principal Resident Magistrate, Janet Mtega at the Resident Magistrates’ Court of Kisutu in Dar es Salaam being more than the 6th time being mentioned before that court since kabendera’s arrest in July while the investigation of the case is yet to be completed.
The Advocate retained by Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC), Jebra Kambole has required the Government side to complete the investigation in time and has informed the court that they are following up on the request for plea bargaining with the Office of Director of Public Prosecution and that they will inform the court on the progress.
Responding to Advocate Jebra Kambole’s request, the Senior State Attorney, Wankyo Simon has said that efforts will be made to complete the investigation on time and that they still await the response from the Office of the DPP.
The case against Erick Kabendera has been one of the cases closely observed by international organizations, embassies and Human Rights Organisations since his arrest by the Police from his home at Mbweni in Dar Es Salaam City.
Before being charged with Economic Offences, Kabendera was arrested and interrogated on his nationality and later his charges were substituted to disseminating false information and was finally brought before the court and charged with Economic Offences.
