Days went by and Annette and J fell more and more in love. John did not sense any change in his wife but kept telling her she was glowing more and looked younger by day.
They went about their marriage duties normally expect the consummation part. They went to weddings together and looked so happy together. Annette spent all her free time with J at their place. Once in a while they went out because Annette had been a party animal before they became serious. J did not like it alot. He was very insecure when he was in public with his woman. Initially Annette thought he had certain misgivings about being seen with him in public, like he was ashamed of her because she was visibly older than him. But that was not it. He was never ashamed of her. He held her hand wherever they went, he always stopped to kiss her forehead and when pretty girls turned to look at him he always had his hand on her waist holding her tight
But there was this time they spent the evening together at a hotel and left after dinner. Annete really missed the night life. The loud music and the smell of booze in clubs. She decided that when J dropped her home, she would sneak back to town and head to the club. She went to some local club and ordered for 2 cold beers and was really happy at having gone out again in a long time. J loved her yes and preferred her company to anybody else's under the sun, but there are some things you just miss. She said to herself.
She ordered for more beers and ignored her phone. J was calling.... she was enjoying herself too much. She did not want him to ruin her night because he would surely be very upset at her.
For some reason, she turned to look at the club's entrance and her eyes met with J's as he looked around the club. Her legs froze right there and wide smile died immediately. She was shaking and she almost fell off her high stool. J was biting hard on his lower lip and it was not a good sign Annette knew. She whispered to him, let's go upstairs to the private lounge honey. He did not utter a word. He held her hand tightly and dragged her up the stairs. She did not dare raise her face even though she knew people were staring. She did this for two reasons. First was to avoid embarrassment because it was the best club in the small town and obviously there were people who knew her. The second reason was to avoid men looking back at her. It would make sure J's anger tipped over.
J pushed her into a couch and asked her to explain herself. She tried explaining that she had missed loud music and J slapped her hard. "Are you being a hoe? Am I not good enough for you?" J asked and it was obvious he was losing control. "I want to go home," Annette declared and proceeded down the stairs. But J would not have any of it. He slapped her again and this time she fell down the stair and the contents of her clutch spilled over. She dropped her phone, two sim cards, cash and keys to her home. Two bouncers quickly came between them and asked if there was a problem. J looked sternly at Annette daring her to speak. "Yes," she said," please throw him out" and so they did even though J had a big athletic body. Some people came to help her pick her stuff and Annette felt very embarrassed. She went back to her previous spot downstairs because not many people had enjoyed the commotion and continued drinking until she could barely walk then took a cab home. She cried so hard in the cab and in her bed until she fell asleep. That night, her diary was soaked with tears and her writing had nooks and crannies.
