Annette fell asleep with John's hand in hers. He felt so guilty when he looked at her. Here was a girl he had watched grow into a woman. She had loved him for who he was. She had been upright, moral, God fearing and humble. They had gone through alot while dating and John had loved from riches to rags but she had been patient. He remembered how she shared her college pocket money with him. The guilt kept biting at him until Annette rose from her seat and it was then that he realized he had been squeezing her hand so tight. He even had tears in his eyes. Annette saw the tears and her first thought was Oh Goodness he found out. John packed at the side of the road and stepped out and went to her side. Annette did not know what to think. But she stepped out too. He gave her a big tight and long hud and remained in that position for a long time making Annette more confused. "I love you Annette", he said and looked into her eyes. Annette searched for guilt in her heart regarding J but to her amazement it was not there. She replied quietly,"Me too John", "let's get going it's getting late".
Well she took the wheel and they headed to Tanga. They booked a hotel room and went out for dinner and some drinks. Tanga was John's hometown. Annette expected that they would sleep early but John said he would go out to see his friends and he would be back by 10 p.m.
Annette stepped out of her hotel room at 11 p.m and went down to sit by the swimming pool and enjoy her night with a drink in her hand. She wasn't bothered in the least by John, just slightly disappointed. She decided to call J and check on him.
She could tell that he was very very drunk. And he was crying. "Annette why did you leave me?,". She hang up on him. She wasn't very good with emotions. And she sat back to drink up. She missed him alot. J was amazing in many ways. J had time for her. He came straight home to her when he left work. He talked to her about everything in his life. J was trustworthy and loyal and J wasn't the type to hang around many friends.
He valued her. He even stood up his friends to spend time with her even without her asking. And she could tell his friends didn't like her alot. J even told her that they expected him to date a girl his age since she was married. 'Affairs of the heart,' she thought to herself. He could have any girl under the sun but he chose me. The age difference is big, he could have taken me for a cougar and tried to spend my mo ey but he does not do any of those things'. She resolved to appreciate him more as she staggered to her bed.
Tanga was boring, and the only thing she enjoyed was talking to J in the comfort of her room when John was at work. She missed Dar. She missed J. He had found a small house for them.... and he promised to cook for her every day when she came back. And she should come back soon, he insisted. She couldn't wait to be in his arms again.
