America Plays Big Brother to Kenya.

Obama anawatakia mema wakenya inabidi wamsikilize, lakini still bado sija get over na wizi wa waziwazi wa Kibaki na mafisadi wake sana sana yule mwenyekiti wa Tume ya uchaguzi...yule fisadi inabidi awe jela saa hii!

Kweli bro, nabado kivuitu ana taka kupeleka the current electoral body to court on claims that they are not in power constitutionally, this man single handedly killed democracy in Kenya by handing power to the loser in an election, therefore bringing his country shame and loss of lives. Such people should be charged in a court of law and killed if need be.

Kivuitu better be silent cause he has so much blood on his hands no
matter how hard he tries to shift the blame. He should just take
responsibility of what happened and let posterity judge him. Hii
biashara ya kuenda kotini is a waste of taxpayers money...ndio iweje
kwa hivyo?..or does he want his old job back?

Looks like he wants his old job back, you know how senior Gvt officials in Kenya are pampered, he cant let all that luxury slide that easy.

This old man is shameless, after what the country went through because of his greed, now he can stand and justify what he did, and take the interim commission to court, hope he burns in hell when his time finally reaches.

Kivuitu's number is up...Its the "kicks of a dying horse" so to speak...He should do himself a favour and forever remain silent.
He dithered during the election. He wants to shift blame, the Kenyan way, when one politician is caught in the wrong they always blame someone else...no matter how much they are mired in their misdeeds they deny and deny some more.

Wakuu,

It was like
an ego war of some kind whic was played out between the two
major newspapers in Kenya: Daily Nation na EA Standard.

Raila meets US President, and speak on governance

It was a rare moment for Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who met United States President Barack Obama twice in New York. On the left is Mrs Ida Odinga and US First Lady Michelle Obama during a photo op at the Metropolitan Museum in New York on Wednesday

US President Barack Obama met Prime Minister Raila Odinga in New York and discussed the need for urgent reforms in Kenya.

Their talks came only hours before the US ambassador in Kenya warned that it would bar at least 15 top government officials including ministers and MPs from setting foot in the country.

Contrary to reports in some Kenya media that had indicated that the PM would not meet Obama, Mr Raila met Mr Obama twice on Wednesday, first at a luncheon for heads of State and later at a dinner.

The PM’s spokesman Dennis Onyango said Obama reached out to Raila at the luncheon where they spoke briefly.

In the brief exchange of pleasantries, Obama asked Raila to ensure they exchanged notes later in the day, according to Mr Onyango.

General Assembly

Raila, who was in New York to represent President Kibaki at the 64th United Nations General Assembly, was accorded more time by the world’s most powerful leader at the dinner where they held discussions regarding the Kenyan situation.

"Obama is very passionate about what is happening in Kenya and is interested in supporting the reform process," Onyango said by telephone from New York.
"It was a tense moment. The security was tight and our crew of photography was not allowed in with cameras. We had to rely on the State Department to secure a few pictures before they referred us to a website where we retrieved the images," Onyango said.

Earlier in the week, a local daily published reports on how Raila was dropped from a heads of State luncheon that was to be hosted by Obama.

Politicians close to Raila interpreted the diplomatic tiff to be arising from their PNU rivals, who were trying to block him from meeting Obama.

Last night, Onyango confirmed that the two meetings with Obama were fruitful and in the discussions, the US President — whose father was Kenyan — pledged support for the country if the Grand Coalition remained committed to implementing reforms under Agenda Four.

Raila, accompanied by his wife Ida, met and posed for pictures with Michelle after the dinner hosted by Obama.

Face to face

On Monday, The Standard exclusively published a story on how Raila had secured the rare appointment with world’s most powerful leader, after the local daily alleged that the PM would not come face to face with Obama.

On Wednesday, the same daily published another report discounting the possibility that Obama and Raila would meet face to face.

The media house published caricatures of the Prime Minister allegedly blocked from accessing the White House.

Onyango yesterday described the media reports as aimed at throwing the credibility of the PM into disrepute.

"The truth will always be known. At last the meetings have helped clarify issues. The US is seeking to see reforms implemented in the country to save it from a repeat of the kind of chaos witnessed after the last General Election," said Onyango.

Hebu cheki walivyokua wanaripoti hii ishu kabla haijafanyika.
Utaona wazi kua lengo lao was to belittle Raila na kumfanya aonekane
mtu duni. Its crazy maana Raila is representing Kenya as a whole na kama
atapatwa na aibu then it reflects on the whole country. Hawa Daily
Nation hawana objective journalism no more.

Tazama mifano:

1. Kenya PM dropped from Obama luncheon

New York-based Kenyan ambassador to the UN Zachary Muburi-Muita told the Nation on Saturday night that the State Department contacted him on Friday to "disinvite" Mr Odinga from the September 22 luncheon with President Obama in New York for African leaders.
The ambassador last Monday confirmed to the Nation that he had received an invitation letter for the PM to attend the luncheon. A dispatch to the Foreign Affairs ministry from Kenya's Ambassador to Washington, Mr Peter Ogego, seen by the Nation confirmed the cancellation.
2.Kenya missing as Obama listens to Africa's needs

Several African leaders briefed President Barack Obama about their countries' needs at a luncheon on Tuesday from which Kenya was excluded. Prime Minister Raila Odinga was initially invited to attend the event at New York's posh Waldorf Astoria Hotel, but was subsequently disinvited by the US State Department.

3. Raila may not meet Obama face-to-face

Prime Minister Raila Odinga and United States President Barack Obama will attend two meetings together in New York, but are unlikely to meet face-to-face. http://www.nation.co.ke/News/politics/-/1064/662142/-/xud3f2z/-/index.html

Revealed: Top names in US visa ban list

United States Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger addresses a press conference at his residence in Muthaiga, Nairobi, on Thursday where he announced that fifteen politicians have been served with letters indicating bad relationships with the United States of America

In Summary
  • Cabinet ministers, MPs, AG and PSs among the 15 who got Obama letters
The US government on Thursday threatened to impose a visa ban on 15 top government officials and block aid to the country. The officials have received letters from the US government applying pressure on them to back reforms and renounce violence.

Civil service boss Francis Muthaura, Deputy PM Uhuru Kenyatta and Cabinet Ministers William Ruto, Franklin Bett and Mutula Kilonzo have been given letters from President Barack Obama's Africa advisor, Mr Johnnie Carson.

Veiled threat

Although the US government did not disclose the names of those facing sanctions, the Nation learnt that they also included joint chief whips George Thuo and Jakoyo Midiwo, Environment Minister John Michuki and Internal Security Minister George Saitoti.

Making what may be seen as a veiled threat, the letter says that their future relationship with the US will be directly "tied to their support for implementation of the reform agenda and opposition to the use of violence".

For some of those targeted, it could be because their official posts place them in a position to influence the pace of reforms.

At the same time, the US government maintains its demand for the removal of Attorney-General Amos Wako and Chief Justice Evan Gicheru, according to ambassador Michael Ranneberger.

The Obama administration said the 15 risked facing travel bans on themselves and their families.

The US also announced that Kenya's efforts to borrow from international financial institutions will be "closely scrutinised", possibly an insinuation that the US could block funds to Kenya.

Crucial role

Announcing the strong measures, Mr Ranneberger said the Obama administration had already sent letters to the affected individuals "making clear that the future relationship of those persons with the United States is tied to their support for implementation of the reform agenda and opposition to the use of violence.

Ndugu yangu wala usitie shaka, ponda ni mtu mdogo sana mwenye loud mouth; he will never be a threat to anyone. trust me tanzania iko stable na watu kama hawa

all we need is to be supported by hawa america kwenye true war dhidi ya ufisadi na sio propaganda zenye iterest zao tu. naamini watu kama rostam wana ties za namna flani na investors wa kimarekani, and if so, then ishu ya kuwanyima visa itakuwa ngumu zaidi

after all, obama ana any special interest na tanzania? he has for kenya because its where his father ancestry is!!

CUF wamtumie ujumbe huyo mshauri wa Obama. Hali Zanzibar ni mbaya kuliko Kenya!

i couldnt agree with you more.... halafu tumekaa kimya na kusema tanzania ni nchi ya amani!!!

they could even fight for the rights of one man if they want!!

Obama alipotembelea africa specifically ghana, alisema african leaders mush change-transparency, democracy, commitment to serve the people, etc. must be given the priority they deserve for the benefits of the majority.

Mkuu, charity begins at home... si lazima aseme Kenya but its clear that he comes from Kenya. remember when he visited Kenya miaka kadhaa huko numa kabla hajawa president; he warned them and sadly they told him to "kiss-off" and go back to america... unakumbuka??

Kibinadamu, hata kama unazungumzia watanzania kuacha tabia fulani, lazima utaanzia nyumbani kutekeleza rai yako kwako!
