While we are at it, is that earth station at Longonot still in use now that there is fiber? Man the size of those dishes. They should be renting the place to us asas for some fee then we get to experiment from there. Like a club or something on weekends.

Hi....av been trying to nab ktn frq on amos 5 but in vain....other frq like 12419 v 29998 in that site are hitting a signal quality of 81%. What i going wrong.....even blind scanning is not helping. My location is voi am using srt 4922 hd and zuku dish.

You would require a 1.2 meter offset dish, as frequency 11761 V DVB-S2 SR 15000 hosting KTN (Kenya), RTI 1, Canal international and RTB TV is on AMOS 5, West Central footprint which has less coverage in Kenya.

As per Satbeams, Amos 5 West Central beam does not cover Kenya

While on SatStar, the beam covers the lower southern part of Kenya where a 1.2 meter offset dish would be required.

Hi Kungu, is the 4950H tuner more sensitive than 4922

Good Evening Permie,

Srt 4950 H tuner card is just slightly more sensitive than Srt 4922HD by about 4 percent.

Main downside of Srt 4950 H is blind scan of C-Band frequencies.
Wont lock on all frequencies and sometimes the frequencies come up duplicated

No firmware yet out to address this main issue.

As for the signal itself, the map says i am at 37dBW. I also am at 36dBW on intelsat 906@64.2E and was receiving that famous Tz mux very well. i am almost sure i will receive the Cross. My C-Band setup is as follows: 180cm prime focus solid with a Supermax(over ten years old now) VH-777 super lnb with a teflon disc in the throat. It is currently on Arabsat 5C. Failing that, i will swallow hard and remove the teflon and try again! Failing that, i will go for plan B. What is plan B?:confused2:

Make sure your dish is elevated from the ground for best optimal tracking of Measat 3 Sat.

I have placed my 2.4 meter prime focus dish on top of the roof.

Interestingly i have dropped that dish 4 times from the top of the roof and its still in good working condition

Use frequency 3625 H DVB-S SR 4320 on Measat 3 Measat 3/3a at 91.5°E - LyngSat

Let your start point be Thaicom 5.

To Get the DVB-S2 8psk modulation, you might require a 2.4 meter prime focus dish.

As per Satbeams, 2.4 Meter Prime focus needed in Kenya to get most of the frequencies on both Meast3/3A...

In Nairobi, using a Samson twin LNB placed in the position shown below on a 90cm offset dish, will get you the elusive frequencies of Eutelsat 8 West A steerable footprint.

The elusive frequencies include,
MBC channels on frequency 11471 V DVB-S SR 27500
QTV 11512 V DVB-S SR 27500
KTV2 11678 V DVB-S SR 27500

At that lnb position, remember to change your frequency polarity from V (vertical) to H (Horizontal).

This is the best position for Samsom twin LNB so as to get Eutelsat 8 West A steerable beam on a 90cm offset dish in Nairobi.

At what price? Pick the more solid dish, think eurostar is better,startrack failed me,and read in some forum that startrack have issues
