African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Hi Dejumbo,

Any update on the 180cm offset dish you were due to receive from China? Am equally keen on the Europe-B beam for the Di*****k package, plus what is the cost of the dish+the customised LNB?

My 180cm offset dish has not yet arrived. Container ship set sail on 1-5-2014 from some port in China.
I am told the ship will take 40 days to reach the East African coast and another week or two to reach here.
Thereafter I will pay taxes and clear the dish after which I will be able to know the final cost.
I will post some pictures as soon as I set my eyes on the dish even while still at URA.

I like what West African friends are doing. They make their own BUD to any desired size.

We can do it too

Food for thought: Every post office building in Kenya has at least two perfectly sized offset dishes, doing absolutely zilch! :ear:

I've really been salivating at them dishes. They look like 1.8m offset. I hope they will someday be disposed off as "obsolete" items.

While we are at it, is that earth station at Longonot still in use now that there is fiber? Man the size of those dishes. They should be renting the place to us asas for some fee then we get to experiment from there. Like a club or something on weekends.

im getting 100%signal on bein sport channels here at nairobi on six feet dish....likes of cnn mtv bbc etc are at 50% quality

I was those sides of Suswa/Longonot last weekend. Went past the dishes, and snapped a few pichas. With those two, you can hear cockroaches scratching their backsides on the moon. You might even not need Owuor, after all. You will catch jesus coming back!

post and Telkom were once joined at the hip. For all intents and purposes, they still are. I once tried to buy those obsolete poles from them for my construction. They tossed me around so much i gave up. One of them told me to wait for them to go recover them from the field, take them to their yard(100km away) and i keep looking at the papers for when they will advertise them so i tender to buy the lot! "Company policy" he said.:der:
I was talking about the ones right outside my house, man. i just needed ten poles, and offered to pull them out myself. "Please, just give me a sales receipt and a guy to supervise." You think he listened? When did you last see a telkom truck with poles? These guys sell nothing! All their stuff either rots to the ground or those courageous enough to resist the acrid smoke pinch them for firewood. Meantime, go cut a fresh tree for your jobs.

Here is my 120cm offset, as i promised. Photo-0002.jpg Photo-0001.jpg Photo-0004.jpg Photo-0010.jpg Photo-0012.jpg Photo-0018.jpg Photo-0016.jpg

Ktn is on Eutelsat 16A@ 16e nd not 17e, for u 2 nail this bird u need at least 120 cm, with zuku dish not possible. First track with 12604 V 30000 once u hit green then blind scan ur reciever nd ur done.

As for the earth station at longonot, the one that would have decommissioned this was the more modern one that they built somewhere in Kericho. But even then, they still used the Suswa one as a fallback/redundant backup. I think it is still used, as when on my way back, there was a Telkom/Orange Landcruiser in the vicinity. And it was on a sunday too!

SRT 4950 series are the best decorders to use when tracking weak signals. My advice to all members is to go for 4950H but if you opt for 4950M make sure you have STABLE POWER SUPPLY(An adaptor that provide CONSTANT/STABLE OUTPUT)
