it is not adapter but decoder itself which got fried.

Look very carefully on that board. The fundi knows something you don't. It might just be a blown fuse. You have any electrical/elecronics inclination? look for one of those rare breeds called watch fundi's and borrow his magnifying glass. Then look for any tell-tale signs of a fuse or a loose connector(dry joint,they call this malady) right where you plug the socket into the board. with he board out of course
wish you guys would decide if the mombasa stb's are the real deal or not, so i can buy mine.

It works on Supermax 2425 hd receiver after software patch. You can see freely the goodies on Eutelsat 7 E.

Due to the many fake, counterfeit and substandard STBs on sale. Before you buy anything let the vendor know that he/she is risking 3 years in jail for selling a non authorized STB to you.

Consumer protection strategies

Licensing of vendors and type approval of set top boxes
As provided under the Kenya Communications Act, the Commission has continued to require that:

• Only telecommunications technical personnel are licensed to sell digital-receiving equipment, including set top boxes, in the Kenyan market.
• All imported models of digital receiving equipment, including set top boxes, are submitted to CCK for type-approval before they are authorized for sale locally via type approval certificates. The certificates carry a description of the set top box including trade name/model, the manufacturer and the name and address of the approved holder.
• Both the CCK-issued vendors' licenses and type approval certificates be displayed prominently at the point of sale for customers to see. The Commission has sensitized consumers on buying compliant set top boxes from authorized vendors who have displayed the two CCK documents.

These measures are aimed at locking out those engaged in the business without a vendor's license and those selling gadgets without type approval certificates issued by the Commission, thus protecting the consumer. In addition, the Act stipulates punitive penalty of Kshs 1 million or 3 years jail term or both for those found to contravene these requirements.
As additional protection measure, a list of all type approved digital receiving devices and authorized vendors is already in the public domain as it is published, and updated, on the CCK website. The DTC Secretariat regularly advises consumers to confirm with CCK or consult the list on the website before making their purchases.

I thought that SRT 4950 was better in terms of signal quality i.e. tuner sensitivity.
Those who own this receiver and are on Eutelsat 7east seem to be shy in telling us whether it opens Digiturk.
Maybe Kungu could assist us in confirming this since he has one already.
If I fail to get satisfactory answer, I might reluctantly go ahead and buy SRT 4922.
