African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

confirmed but I think its 16E

Anybody with clues on how the digital migration cases and the giant local stations is going so that we get ready to turn our satellite dishes to the right direction and avoid buying dvb t2 decoders

I thought that SRT 4950 was better in terms of signal quality i.e. tuner sensitivity.
Those who own this receiver and are on Eutelsat 7east seem to be shy in telling us whether it opens Digiturk.
Maybe Kungu could assist us in confirming this since he has one already.
If I fail to get satisfactory answer, I might reluctantly go ahead and buy SRT 4922.

Don't buy the older model, please. Buy the 4950M so you can experiment and post here results. for the rest of us.:biggrin1:

Now I am even more confused. According to Strong site, there are 3 versions of SRT 4950 i.e. 4950, 4950H, & 4950M.
Which is the older model you are talking about?

Yes there are 3 versions of SRT 4950 series: SRT 4950, SRT 4950H and SRT 4950M.
SRT 4950H is the best of them all with a 2Gb Memory Processor and IPTV Capability.
SRT 4950 is similar in size to 4950H but with only a 1Gb Memory Processor and NO IPTV.
SRT 4950M is the mini version of the series, with a 1Gb Memory Processor and NO IPTV.
Because of its size, ( 123 X 95 X 29mm (0.5Kg) 4950M uses an external IR sensor for the remote and DC 12/24V Power Supply.
It also has a single A/V Jack Connector and RS-232C via single Jack Connector.

As to whether it can open Digiturk, I am not sure yet. I however recall a forum member (Frengwa) here in Kampala telling me on phone that he has used it to nad the goodies on Eutelsat 7 East.
Over to you Frengwa, please help us to solve the mystery.

Try Digital Life Electronics. From the forum members experience and mine, the salespeople are pretty clueless. Located on Junction of Kamae Road and Luthuli Avenue.

Nice sunday everyone,
A member recently told us how disatisfied he is about the New Hotpoint Stb he had just bought.
This is clearly a case of consumer disatisfaction.
Here is what you should do, write an email to hotpoint Kenya and cc the consumer federation of Kenya - Cofek telling them how disatisfied you are and that they should replace the STB or refund your money. Remember to mention the model and serial number of the Stb. Attach a scanned copy of your reciept and warranty card, and always photocopy for future use.
I hope you never threw away any of the packaging, reciept or warranty card, if they choose to replace, you will be required to return them. They should replace the stb if not so, refund your money. If they replace the Stb and if it still falls short of expectation, then demand your money back. If Hotpoint does not then its time to let out the Sharp teethed Dog Cofek. Email them again and cc hotpoint about what they did not do. Let the dog fight your battle for you now and for sure you will get your money back guaranteed.

I have tried such a setup placing a secondary lnb on the arm below the primary one and it worked. But lnbs placed o the arm usually have very low signal strengths. My advice is that you first of all lock the dish on 5E, this will recieve 7E too after some tweaking. After this hang the 7W Lnb on top using some aluminium wires, this setup will give you much better signal strengths on all satellites.
