African Satellite World and Sat Gear

yesterday i got the hotpoint dvbt decoder and it is a gadget that is not worth that price . My advice don't even dare to have it. Its slow, Poor picture quality and its not able to search all fta channels available. I rate it at 3/10.

We already warned against it here:

https://www.jamiiforums.com/kenyan-...t/575782-kenya-digital-migration-updates.html

too bad you had to learn the hard way. Always seek to learn from other people's mistakes, you're unlikely to live long enough to make them all.

Has anyone tried the new GoCard firm DSTV for tv's with CI module interfaces for DVBT2? Its going for 2500sh without the Gotenna and 3500 sh with. It allows viewong gotv channels from digital TVs without getting the Dvbt2 decoder.

i agree,saw it o
n tuskys supermarket the finishing and the remote made me hate it at
first glance.searching channels and saving was quite disappointing.
next decoder is far better than hotpoint.it even played my external hdd
with ease.most of the t2 decoders in the market have similar substandard
remotes that wear out easily or chip off like eraser.why dont they
invest on good quality remotes like startimes or dstv?
H-box is another one you should avoid at all cost.

Whats the issue with the Hbox, before I buy it?

Guys, a forum already exists for DVB-T2 discussions. Kindly check it out.

Does SRT 4950 series open Digiturk goodies? Which patch does the trick? Please those of you who have this receiver kindly
enlighten us.

Surely there must be someone who has this stb and is on Eutelsat 7 east.
Kindly please let us know so that we can also join you to enjoy.

I own the receiver but my dish size can't nab the goodies. I have noticed that once you upgrade the patch software and check under BISS keys, you'll notice Digiturk keys for 7E are included. In summary, theoretically, it opens the goodies but I'm yet to try.

I m planning on nabbing ses 5 using my eurostar LNB one way n 1.8m dish which is currently on paksat C band..

it is not adapter but decoder itself which got fried.

Too bad, but i am pretty sure that fundi will not help you, Where is he going to get the spare parts? Most of the spares sold in luthuli are big solid state parts like resistors, capacitors and pcb mountable ICs. Most of the very small spares are usually for phones which are very many unlike satellite decoders.

Hi there are 2 types of Samsung lnb's. One is clearly written Samson I guess from the manufacturer and another fake one with a samson sticker. All of them are good by the way only the workmanship of the fake one is evident.

:confused2:

I guess the main weakness with the OVHD decoder is that it wont allow you to connect to other (or more than one) satellites, although it has a DiSEqC 1.0 function. Any clever way to go around this? Could be just a software issue to limit its usage / market to SES5 only; ..... and only to specific Transponders!

That was my thought exactment! we are back to proprietary stb's: freeview, openview, gotv, dstv..:nono: and the list goes on. What i want is a box with a fairly common processor/chip so that i can diddle it every each way. The best one i have seen so ar is that castelnet from zuku. the one in a "combact brown box":biggrin1: ,even if all it can do is a blind scan. What good is a diseq switch if all it can do is connect to one satellite, one transponder, one frequency?:brick:Someone point me to Jacob's Cross FTA. It is the only decent entertainment from SA, far as i am concerned.:shut-mouth:
