African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Ha Haa Haaa...! Good, free things never last some times. One day I hope to set up a 8 meter dish pointed to Hotbird, Astra A/E/F (28.2East), Eutelsat 28A (28.5E) and other rare fringe birds with the prime goodies. Do you remember one 85 Year old FTA enthusiast, Klaus Schumacher who watched German channels on Astra 19E from Brazil with a 8 meter dish? Check here: YouTube
FTA-Nash, and other FTA enthusiasts,
Is it possible to nab Eutelsat 28A in Dar?
I have 8 feet dish ready, is it enough or do I need a bigger one?

The many channels you are quoting are on Intelsat 20 and not NSS 12. The only kenyan channel u can get on nss12 is K24 only plus many local radio stations. As 4 the kenyan mux on one sat, can anyone alert us where the planning has reached and possibly launch date.

all, someone told me that there is a type of astrovox stb going at kshs 10000 and it nabs all local channels. I am not aware of the satellite in question. Can someone confirm this, please!

what u r referring to is a type of hybrid decoder that nabs dvbt2 as well as dvbs2. In short its an FTA HD Terrestrial as well as a HD satellite reciever. At the moment I dont know any brand name, so I dont know if astrovox manufactures such decoders.

where are you(Location?

thanks for the explanation, but does this mean the feed gets bounced off multiple satellites?
In most cases they use this set up when there's poor weather condition during live transmittion

Hello edson
You stand a better chance of getting Digiturk goodies if you use at least 240cm PF dish (8ft) here in Kampala.
I am currently using the same size plus INVERTO Black LNB with very satisfying results on all channels including
tp 11618 V but come rain and only the BBC, CNN will remain. A good number of my friends are also using the same
size dish (240cm) with Fuji Stargold LNB for PF dishes with good results. Their biggest problem is tp 11618 V and 11534 V which show only in the morning up to around 6pm and then starts crackling very badly.
Thanks for this valuable information! I guess I have to play a waiting game until I get a bigger offset. D**v SA @ 68.5˚E is another reason I’ve to wait. I can only hope the 7E goodies will still be available by the time I acquire one.

I am waiting to receive a 180cm (6ft) offset dish from China with its own factory approved LNB plus funnel type feedhorn (scallar).

I really would love to be filled in about the details regarding you receiving the 1.8m offset from China. Can you please PM your phone contact?

What make is your SD receiver? Please note that the good channels (scrambled) can only be received using certain patched receivers.
It’s a very simple ALI Chip C/BETA serie on market mainly in Maghreb as 301D a.k.a Morebox supported by the now struggling Moresat team. As for the patch, I have a standalone EMU for these goodies that works on PC (no internet required) through the sssp protocol which this receiver like many other receivers fully supports.

Are you planning to get rid of your 1.95cm dish or you wish to keep it, and what's your location?

Check Technomate combo dvbs2/t2

Ive checked it out on their website. Its a decoder with very many features I like. With this decoder you can receive the normal satellite Fta as well as get all the locals on dvbt2. Where can I get it in Nairobi and most importantly how much?

Thanks so much. I am in Rongai, Nairobi (?). Provide more assistance to the curious newbie.
Karibu sana...from my experience ronga despite being "abroad" is a vantage point for hunting them birds. First things first, can you access flat grounds, ama you live on flats...this will help you know the dish size you need to buy. Thereafter, budget yako inakaa aje? are you out for the EPL, ama unataka movies, nat geo and such - this will inform the choice of decoder. Once you answer these issues satisfactorily, you have made 290 steps to the 300 step journey. :loco::loco:
Jibu haya alafu we point you in the right direction

Roger Field , May 8th, 2014
Fatafeat, the region’s only dedicated food channel, is to re-launch on June 15 with a new look and feel, and a landmark reality show to find a new TV chef for the channel.
Darine El Khaib, channel director, Fatafeat, announced the re-launch at a gala dinner in the Waldorf Astoria hotel last night.
El Khatib told Digital Production ME that the plan is to move the channel more towards entertainment and to reach a younger audience. She added that Fatafeat will introduce more shows made outside the studio and will explore new formats.
As part of the relaunch, Fatafeat will also introduce a new reality TV competition in which contestants will compete for their own weekly cookery show on the channel.
“We have a brand new show called Fatafeat’s Next Great Chef and it’s a reality competition show. The series will be based on eight episodes whereby we will be looking for the next great chef for Fatafeat,” El Khatib said. “The prize will be a weekly show on Fatafeat for the winner, and a cookbook across the region.”
Fatafeat is owned by Discovery Networks and broadcasts across the MENA region to 22 Arab countries.

You may require a 5meter (16 feet) or larger dish. Sat-hunters living in north Africa, e.g., Tunisia might be able to receive the satellite with a 8ft dish.

There is a Combo decoder available at 'Digital-Life Electronics" – Luthuli Avenue / Kamae Rd junction - that goes by the name "THY-WORD QC-XPLUS SERIES V DVB-T2/S2 COMBO RECEIVER". It goes for Sh.12000. You can try to bargain for a better deal. Also check: www.thywordtv.co.ke
