Hello dejumboI have come accross my first case of a fake SRT 4922 here in Kampala.
I was helping a friend to track Eutelsat 7A @ 7° East for the Digiturk goodies when I noticed that
his decoder could not open them even after updating the firmware. Later the decoder refused to
boot completely though it keeps showing some lights. It was bought from a shop on Market street
here in Kampala. The "lady" who sold it to my friend refused to take it back in exchange for a working
one and even refused to allow us do a decoder to decoder software transfer to ressurect the dying / dead
decoder.
If you are in Kampala try to avoid this shop. The shop is on Market street opposite Energy centre building.
It has no clear name but there are several traders in it each selling different electric / electronic goods.
This woman (name withheld but begins with a P****) is fat in the real sence of the word and looks like
most typical fat businesswomen in Kampala.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!
Roger that and thank you for alerting us! P****'s behaviour for me is typical of a good number of sat shop merchants in Kampala.
And since you were pursuing D***turk, it intrigues me to ask if you think/feel I stand any chance of nailing these goodies with a 130cm offset in K'la or if you've had success with a dish this small. I've tried to get Tps from the Europe B beam and only managed the BBC Persia Tp (very stable and doesn't crack day and night). My STB is SD and not an SRT, so my signal strength-quality values may be misleading. 28% signal quality is enough for channels to work on this stb and I get 39 to 42 % on this Tp, which is the same signal range values I get on etv (SES 5) feeds when they are weakest. I am starting to question this STB's tuner sensitivity. I'll more than appreciate any input on this.
