African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

With 90cm in Nairobi you cannot receive European beam, you need 120cm and above

After a very unfruitful search for Eutelsat 7A@ 7E, I have landed at Nilesat 201 @ 7W with Signal Strength of 81% and Quality Signal of 70-81 for various channels (Maestro TV etc). I still want to catch the Eutelsat 7A @ 7E for the European beam. (my infrastructure srt 4950h,120cm offset ,StarGold LNB).FRom the Azimuth calculations
Eutelsat 7E (272.23 deg,Elevation 55.23 deg, offset 20.36) while nilesat (271.33 deg, elevation 39.49 deg offset 20.36 deg). From my hand compass the dish is at 271 degree Azimuth while the elevation pointer is at at approx 55

So to get 7E i should elevate the dish until it gets to around 80 degree mark on the markings behind the dishes (i.e 55.23 deg + offset(20.36)=75.36

Please advise if this is correct?

no 7e is above 7w

no 7e is above 7w
Thank for response but is not clear still,is above in this case when the elevation is tending towards 80 degrees or towards 0 degrees (80 the LNB is almost verticalwhile 0 degrees LNB will be almost horizontal). The difference in elevation is approx 16 degrees from my current dish elevation i shoud move 16 degrees up to get to 7E ie current Nilesat elevation +16 degrees .Am I on track?

Please let me know a step by step as i will be on the roof again tomorrow
Thanks

Without changing the azimuth, adjust only the elevation till the dish is almost fully vertical.

I have a 135cm offset dish currently standing on E7WA, managed to get only MBC MASR, while my target was all the MBCs and NAT GEO, but only the 11938H;is catching and not the Vertical, also the 12322 V is red. Now can thESE Tps be nabed in Dar es salaam? Am getting Dubai with 73 % signal quality.,BBC 70% SOMEONE TELL ME SO I CAN GO BACK AND HUNT.

It's located on Luthuli Lane directly opposite Kijana Msafi Hotel. The way to access it is, if for instance you're on Luthuli Avenue, walk up to the Luthuli/River Road junction then take a right turn. After about two or three buildings, you'll come upon an alleyway on your right labelled Luthuli Lane. You'll find Riwara hapo mbele on your right side.

Exactly, that's the best way ever one can get directed. Ranksat has done it so well you can't loose your way!

Members in the house, it is very easy to nail yarsat and yamal 402 @54.9e in one lnb here western using 100cm dish. Tp 11045 v 40122 but only 9 channels are there in yamal.

Good Morning Solom,

Thanks for the update.

Seems the channels you discovered are on Yamal 402 satellite, Southern Beam footprint covering part of Africa

Hi Dongra,

Do you have an i-pad, or can you borrow one from a friend? If you can find an ipad, download an Ap called Anglefinder (might also work on an i-phone, but I use an ipad). I think it is free, or very low cost, and there are several alternatives. This turns your i-pad into a very accurate angle measuring device. Once you have your dish fixed on any know satellite, eg Eutelsat 7W, use the ipad to measure the angle exactly, just by placing the ipad edge flat on the edge of the LNB holder arm of the dish. Note that angle down. Now, when you want to adjust your elevation to another Sat, look up the exact elevation needed for your location, and do a little calculation to determine the number of degrees you need to add or subtract to the present elevation of your dish, then adjust the dish, again using the i-pad. I find this much much more accurate than trying to read the angle from the little notches built in to the dish.

And good luck with your daughter on the phone technique! but I think that will add to your difficulties, I have found that there is no substitute for having a small portable TV right up with you when you are making the adjustments, it is so easy to miss when the quality improves. Good luck!

Happy New Year Kungu,

These new channels on Yahsat 1A look interesting. Especially BBC HD? - do you mean BBC HD, or BBC World News HD?, in the UK the best of BBC1 and BBC2 are selected and played on a domestic channel called BBC HD, which has really good programming. I think that this is also relayed on Turksat via Eutelsat 7E, but with the standard method of getting those channels in Kenya, you cannot get HD channesl I understand. BBC HD is also transmitted on that British Armed Forces broadcasting agency channel which is receiveable in Kenya, but impossible to un-encrypt without the right set top box and card which is not easy to obtain.

Anyway, even if it is BBC World HD, combined with NHK HD, and CNN HD, it would be interesting. Can you share the website that has more info on this Arquiva thing?

Good Morning Thabto,

You had requested info about C-Band reception plus list of satellite and channels you can access with your 1.8 meter prime-focus dish.

For C-Band reception you require a primefocus dish plus C-Band LNB.

C-band satellite frequencies are transmitted either under
Linear or Circular polarity.

What is the difference between a Linear and Circular polarity?

This has to do with the way the signal is transmitted from the satellite.

There are two different ways that a satellite broadcast its signal.

If linear, it broadcasts Horizontal (H) and Vertical (V).

If circular, it broadcasts Right Circular (R) and Left Circular (L).

To understand this better, imagine the signal coming in like a screw that's turning left or right.

aviarygalaxymarketingco.jpg

Under the transponder frequency column (Freq. Tp) e.g on Flysat FlySat Arabsat-5C @ 20° East you will see a letter next to the frequency. If the letters used are R or L (Right or Left), then it's a circular broadcasting transponder. If you see the letters H or V (Horizontal or Vertical), then it's a linear broadcasting transponder.

11723554695_040b6fae31_z.jpg

Please note, for Circular polarity (R/L) you are required to insert the dielectric plate
f1343.png

inside the lnb as shown in the image below

c-bandlnb_ilist_2.jpg

For linear polarity (H/V), remove the
dielectric plate.

Scalar-HV.JPG

Please also note, the dielectic plate is inserted into the lnb
to covert or depolarise the circular polarity to linear.

it's done in such a way to the
(R) (right hand circular polarity) is turned to (V) (vertical Linear polarity) while (L) (left hand circular polarity) is turned to (H) (horizontal Linear polarity)

R
= V while L = H

BISS KEY

Most FTA sports channel televising Live sports matches are coded under BISS key also known as Basic Interoperable Scrambling System.

The biss encryption is activated during live matches on some channels.

You would require a sat receiver able to support keying in of biss code to decry-pt the said channel.

You can go for strong sat brand receiver like 4922 hd which is easy to patch for key support.

Some of the sports channel we are enjoying under biss encryption include<<<<

Irib 3 and Irib Varzesh on Arabsat 5C frequency 3964 R DVB-S2 8PSK SR 30000.
Live EPL, Spanish/French/Italian league plus more
Still on Arabsat you can access Aljazeera News english and Aljazeera America also in english plus other news channels
FlySat Arabsat-5C @ 20° East

PTV sports on Paksat 1R frequency 4004 V DVB-S2 SR 3333.

live cricket and EPL matches
PTV web link>>>>
PTV Sports Official Website

CSC on Apstar 7 frequency 4048 V DVNB-S2 8PSK SR 2448
Live cricket matches
web link >>>>>
Current Programs | CSN TV Official Web site | Sri Lanka's Premier Sports, Lifestyle and Business TV Channel

Also you would require a DVB-S2 compatibly receiver as most satellites are transmitting frequencies under DVB-S2.

While update you on more soon.

Excellent idea, will load on my ipad and give it a try. Many thanks Northumberland.in the process of trying to acquire the sat finder ws 6906 to relieve me of the phone the daughter-check-the screen solution:wink2:.

I rescanned beIN fequencies on 4950H and now not showing besides the FTA, Humax is OK. anyone experiencing the same, how about 4922?

You have to use the jsc card for the scrambled channels to open on the strong 4922.
