StarSat, formerly TopTV, hopes to have over 100 channels on air by 1 January 2014, parent company On Digital Media (ODM) said in a press statement on Tuesday, 19 November 2013.
The announcement formed part of a press release about the re-launch of TopTV as StarSat, which ODM revealed at the end of October.
ODM said at the time that the new StarSat bouquets would be available from 1 December 2013.
According to the pay TV satellite operator, it decided to whittle the 7 packages previously available on TopTV down to 4.
StarSat launch bouquets advertisement
However, it revealed in advertisements placed in the Sunday papers and in the recently issued press release that it would launch with 5 bouquets:

StarSat said that it would sell a decoder capable of receiving high-definition (HD) for R599, including dish and installation. The decoder alone would cost R399, StarSat said.

New transponders are firing up on Yahsat 1A offering more to the Middle East.

The new frequencies are all on Yahsat 1A East footprint.

Am using a 2.4 meter offset dish in Limuru, Kenya to get the East Beam Tp's.

Hi Kungu, many thanks for this good post.. much appreciated. I note that you are getting very good signal quality and strengths. What Lnb and dish size are you using? I am still having alot of difficulty locking on to the digiturk package on Eutelsat 7A at 7.0°E . I bought a Fuji Stargold and it didn't help, I tried a Sanstech fuji, it didn't help either.. now considering purchasing a Inverto Black Ultra for use on my 1.8m prime focus. Whats your advice?

Good Afternoon ruffcast,

I am using a 1.6 meter offset dish plus samson twin ku lnb but to get all the tp,s of Digitruk, i use the 2.4 offset.

With a 1.2 offset i can get the 3 lower frequencies on Eutelsat 7 East A Europe B footprint ( 10721 H & 10721 V & 10762 V)

Haven't tried out the Inverto Prime focus ku lnb yet.

Try your offset dish to see if you can get the said frequencies on the Europe B footprint

Thanks for your detailed insight into the operations of both decoders bwana Kungu! So should we always choose step 1 1MHz when running a blindscan on 4922a?

Good Afternoon abu i-man,

I mainly use step 4 for blind-scan on Strong 4922 HD but when it comes to frequencies with low symbol rate, i prefer to use Step 1 1Msps

One example of satellite with low Symbol Rate on frequencies is Amos 5 C-band which has a number of channels under 2000 SR.

Step 1 blind-scan takes the longest but finds more transponders especially with low symbol rate (SR)

After reviewing Strong Srt 4922 versus Srt 4950H, the retail price of Srt 4922 HD shot up from 6000 Ksh to 7000 Ksh in Nairobi.
