All,
Has anyone succeeded in getting: Digiturk on Eutelsat 7A at 7.0°E (European beam) and the Nilesats (Nilesat 201 at 7.0°W and Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W) on one dish, say 120Cm offset or 180Cm Prime focus?
If so, please share, including photos. That would be So Wonderful. That's my project for December when I climb the roof again! ......... ASAS symptoms are showing up in me again! I have attached here a setup done by Mr. Freddygaz in September 2012 to generate some ideas ...........
Freddygaz, over to you and your great multi-LNB fixing skills!
What I can say the two satellites are fridge reception.....ie 7E&7W to nab both of them you need a bigger surface area.....lets say starting at 300cm dish going up to compensate on those cloudy days
The easiest way is to get two 180cm dishes with marched feed and you are gud for the hunt!
All,
Driven by a sudden attack of ASAS symptoms, I found myself on the roof on Saturday hunting down fringe satellites! Goal was to track both Eutelsat 7A at 7.0°E (European beam) and the Nilesats (Nilesat 201 at 7.0°W and Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W) on one 120Cm offset dish. I had set this project for December but couldnt wait any more .. couldnt sleep coz of excitement!
This time, I decided to try my brand-new Satlink WS-6906 satellite meter, brought last week from Dubai by an ASAS forum member .. Wakilongo to be precise.
After 5 hours of camping on the roof with all sorts of hunting paraphernalia I managed to combine two LNBs on the 120Cm (marketed as 130Cm). Both are single Inverto Ultra Black LNB. See attached photos. The LNB on 7E position brought in 447 channels while that on 7W position managed 502 channels. Decoder used is Strong SRT4922. This is detailed below:
330 Channels (both scrambled and FTA) on 7E Europe Beam; 80 Channels from 7E Africa beam; 110 Zuku Channels from 5E; and 37 FTA Channels from 5E. Signal level and Quality (in brackets respectively) in percentage, and some of the good channels available in English are given below:

11637H30000 (96,50) . Moviemax Stars, MGM Channel Europe, Intimacy
11678H30000 (96,50) . Fox Turkiye, Eurosport, Moviemax Premier2
TPs from the Africa beam on 7E:
10967H01950 (97,79) . Record Mozambique;
11110H01600 (97,60) . Feed;
11192H03210 (97,87) . MBC1&2 Mauritius;
12521H27500 (97,90) . 2 FTA (Muvi TV, Africa Unite);
12604H30000 (97,87) .... 37 Azam Mux (NTV, K24, Citizen, Dubai One, etc. FTA);
12645H30000 (97,87) .... 32 Muvi Mux (Africa Unite, Muvi nyimbo, Prism Africa etc. FTA);
12728H30000 (97,87) . 8 Free2View Mux (TV Zimbo etc. FTA);
On this position, 502 Channels are available on 32 TPs, and all have Signal strength of 96-97% and stable Quality of 59-63%. Al least 8 movie channels are available and stable, namely Fox, Fox Movies, Top Movies, MBC2, MBC3, MBC Action, MBC Max, MBC4, Majestic Movies. The TPs are:
All Nilesat201 TPs are not receivable in this setup. No Problem since CNN, BBC, France24, EuroNews, Aljazeera, CCTV Mux, Bloomberg, Dubai One etc. are available on the 7E LNB. However, this setup will let down JSC-Sports lovers! Those TPs will not come up; maybe only the HD1-6 on 12476V27500.
TRACKING PROCEDURE:
First track Fox movies (11296H27500) on Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W. Quality of 70% on SRT4922;
Next, insert and saveTP for MBC1&2 (Mauritius (11192H3210) on 7East.
Lift dish abit and maximize reception on the above TP (11192H3210) on 7East.
Insert and save BBC Persian (10721H22000) on 7East, European Beam.
If using SRT4922, maximize it to Signal 97% and Quality 69% and above; then all the other TPs on the European Beam will pop up with quality of 60% and above.
If using Satlink WS-6906, ensure it reads Quality of 35% and above.
COMBINING THE TWO LNB:
LNB for 7E is placed at the original LNB arm of the dish, while that of the 7W is suspended above it as seen in photo. Distance between the two LNB should be approximately 24.5Cm for good results.
Since the extra arm for 7W is not stable under strong wind, visit a metal fabricator to make a special type similar to the one made by Freddygaz; I call it Freddygaz Innovative Robotic LNB Arm.
Given that the two LNBs and the holders exert some weight pressure on the dish, add an extra 57Cm long steel supporting between bottom of dish and mast. It also acts as a wind break.
Any TP above that registers signal quality of less than 60% is slightly unstable. I plan to experiment with other LNBs such as Stargold and Starlife in next 1 week. Once all TPs hit quality of 60% then all channels in both LNBs should be very stable, even in cloudy weather.
SATLINK WS-6906 METER:
This is a very useful gadget. I charged it for 5 hours the night before, and used it on Saturday for 5 hours (continuously) plus Sunday for another 2 hours without recharging! Its LCD screen has very sharp images. It has a tiny speaker projecting sound at the back; supports DiSEqC switch 1.0 and blind / auto scan; has fully fledged DVB-S, MPEG2 decoder capabilities. It costs around USD80 100 out there (China). It comes with an AV cable, car charger, USB-software upgrade cable and a small carry-case with a strap to enable you to hang it around your neck or somewhere else as you hunt for Satellites.
Once I fabricate a robotic LNB Arm plus experiment with other LNBs, I will report back the adventure. Pardon FTA-Nash for a very long story.
ASAS addicts from the coastal region have been accused of exploitation by a member of this forum, his exact words are "For a long time, fellow ASAS members have been exploited from the enlighted ASAS members from the coastal region." I would like to thank the said member for acknowledging the fact that we are enlightend on satellite issues coz like i said in one of my earlier posts, three quaters of all sat dishes in Kenya are in the coast.This is an uncalled for and unwarranted attack on the dignity of honourable members of this forum from the region as it portrays us as conmen and swindlers. The member also says that this has been going on for a long time, i would like him to
a) Tell us which forum members have lost money to the 'coast cartel'
b) Tell us the amounts involved.
c) Tell us how the swindle was done. like in did someone recieve money and refuse to deliver or sell substandard goods.
d) If he is going after one member, spare the rest all the drama and tell us the guilty party.
Since the days of the old RDI links and numbers to stores which stock the ASAS equipment have been dropped time and again for members to call and enquire about their requirements, several times guys in this forum have been asked if they have a share in the several stores that we get our goods from as its about two or three stores that have what we want.
Most members here have not met one another and depend on trust and its very disturbing when we are accused of breaching this trust.
I have made very good friends from this forum and also met some of them.
If any of you has been conned, swindled or given a raw deal by the 'coastal cartel' or anyone else in this forum please come forward and let us know. Everyone here is aware of all the risks involved in sending money to stangers and how to go about it.
finally, Forum members have travelled all over the world and have even been to china where all the ASAS equipment is very cheap as its manufactured there and they dont stand on the roof and brag to anyone who will listen about where they have been.
Let me post this play Entitled "The Coastarians Are Coming"
(On a windy Kitengela night the moon is shining and thedogs are barking intermittently. Wakilongo is having acute ASAS and decides to place a call to Msondaa, his Coastal contact on Matters ASAS)
Telephone: Ring! Ring! Ring!
Msondaa: Wakilongo long time how have you been?
Wakilongo: Yeah, I have been quiet, eating my things quietly. Free TV for the eyes and Kitengela food.
Msondaa: Eh, and what calls for this late night call?
Waki: Msondaa, ever since the jamaaz on the forum started talking about Digiturk FTA on 7E I have not been sleeping. Everytime I go to the roof but my signals have been weak and only manage BBC Ent etc but even thus, they are really Cracking.
Msondaa: Really? I have not tried mine here but will be climbing to the roof over the weekend to see if they can be caught.
Waki: But Soita tells me you costarians have a wonder LNB that is causing ripples in matters FTA.
Msondaa: You are right. The LNB is called Black Pro. It comes with its own feedhorn to be put on a 6Ft dish. Do you know a guy called Katiklo?
Waki: Yes.
Msondaa: He has fixed for 5 neighbours now. Their signal improved by 10 Percent. In fact if you use it on Nilesat you might not need the decoder. You just fix it on the TV.
Waki (Mesmerized ASAS Gangnam Style) Alaaa! I want that thing!Like now. Soita tells me it is 1,500.
Msondaa: Aha, Soita is in Bungoma, how can he know the price? It was 2k but now it is selling for 2,500/-
Waki: If it is the wonder LNB that you say it is, I can even buy it at 6k. My BBC Persia is stuck at 62% and it is the most strong signal. The rest llike BBC Ent are cracking a bit, but I manage 59% on a good clear night.
Msondaa: If you but this thing, your era for roof-climbing will be over.
Waki: So how much can I send?
Msondaa: Tuma 2,500 plus 3sock for transport charges then dont forget kuweka ya kutoa for MPESA.
Waki: Deal. I am sending right now ........Message on phone (ASASMSXTTTREYRFWASAS CONFIRMED Ksh 2,900 sent to Msondaa. Your Balance is now Ksh. 4.50)
Msonda: I have got the money, I will send you the items tomorrow........
(NEXT DAY AT 6PM)
Received a Whattsapp photo of the items. Msondaa is at the shop and has bough the items. A few minutes later, I receive a Whattsapp message of a Bus Ticket photo of Ksh. 200/- Coast Bus Mail delivery Service.
Msondaa: Waki you must add some transport fee coz I paid more that I had expected.
Waki: But I see the receipt has 200/- we had budgeted and sent 300/- transport?
Msondaa: Ah Bwana I had to bribe those guys coz they would have charged more!
Waki: How now? How much did you bribe them?
Msondaa: I had to give them 200/-
Waki: Now I owe you 100/-?
Msondaa: Ah, hata ya chai huwezi ongeza, Wewe Baluya mkono gamu sana!
Waki: Hehe. Nyumba ya Mumbi, you want to finish off a lunje-eh?
FOLLOWING MORNING 9AM, at Coast Bus station. Wakilongo, not having slept whole night has now received his goods and he is all siley!
He opens the courier box to reveal the LNB. He is stunned that the receipt of payment is missing. He places a phone call to Msondaa
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Msondaa: Umepata Mburungo?
Waki: Yeah looks light and very pocketeable.
Msondaa, go home in the evning and let me know the results.
Waki: (Disturbed) But how come you did not send the receipt of the goods together with the LNB?
Msondaa:What receipt?
Waki: I mean when you bought the LNB from the shop, there was no receipt?
Msondaa: Oh, that one, you see I had sent someone to buy so i need to check with him.
Waki: Okay check with him, I do not want the physical receipt, but you can just take a photo of the receipt then I can print it from this end. I like keeping records of the things I own, plus I might want to resell it if I find out it is not working.
Msondaa: I will organize the receipt later at lunch time.
(Lunch time came and passed)
Evening, Wakilongo back on the roof to test this wonder LNB. He replaces his dual Stargold LNB with this wonder LNB and notices that BBC Persia that was hitherto at 62% now drops to 52% No video. Panick. ASAS. Nyumba ya Mumbi strikes my Westgate again!
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Msondaa:
How is the wonder LNB?
Waki: Not working. It makes the Stargold Dual seem a Super Machine.
Msondaa: Maybe you are not connecting well.
Waki: My connections are perfect.
Msondaa: But people have lauded the Black Pro LNB, how can you be the only one to complain?
Wakilongo: I am not complaining, I am only saying that it is not working. If you can only send me the receipt copy, I can offload it to SAT 2 or even Soita and get my money back. So will you send me the receipt?
Msondaa: Yes I will send you the receipt.
2 Weeks later I was still waiting for the receipt. Now 2 Months later, the receipt is yet to arrive and my phones cannot be received and my messages cannot be answered by Msondaa. But on my own, I found out that the LNB has a street value of 1,500/-

Now the forum members can judge for themselves if there is exploitation or not. To answer other questions:

b) Tell us the amounts involved. FROM THE STORY THEY ARE MENTIONED

d) If he is going after one member, spare the rest all the drama and tell us the guilty party. MY ARTICLE WAS ABOUT COASTAL CARTELS AND DID NOT TARGET ANY SPECIFIC MEMBER EITHER ON THIS FORUM OR OUTSIDE.
In fact, my inbox is overflowing with congratulatory messages. Some have been swindled, and some are just happy that now they can bypass the cartel!
The Luhya have a saying that when you arrive home and you realize that youe eggs have been eaten up by one of your dogs, just gather them and raise your hand. The dog that takes off at great speed is the culprit. I just hope that this story will help someone out there.

speaking for myself,
I dont know the issues you had with the forum member and i dont know whether the issues you have raised are indeed true or just a case of mudslinging, but my experience with him so far points to a very good and noble forum member. I sent money to him before even meeting him. For five decoders infact. I didnt see any form of swindling, dishonesty, mind-games, mistrust on our dealings. There is a day i sent him money without sending the transport costs for my equipments and he didnt hussle me for it as you have insinuated. Another day he called me and we spoke for a record 87mins non stop-from his phone. That cannot be done by someone who would pester you to send an extra 100 or 200 bob.I am sorry but i dont think this is Msondaa that i know!

This is a great site where we interact, learn and exchange ideas and experiences. Thank you for your opinion and I really appreciate. If I can respect your views, I am sure you can also respect mine without jeopardizing yours.

Guys it is time to cease fire. This is a great forum for creating and sharing.Members should just be as honest as possible in their dealings with one another. Lets put these differences behind us and concentrate on climbing roof tops and hunting stubborn birds
I am using Satlink ws6912 meter and i ensure the quality on the meter on both is reading between 21%-24% and with that am assured the picture will be cracking a little and at time won't crack
Signal strength is far below the quality. Sometimes during a clear sky, the quality hits 100% while the strength is a paltry 50% but the picture quality is superb.
Another thing to consider, apart from dish size and LNB, is the STB. Somewhere I read that Strong STBs max out at 98% quality, they never show 100%. My SRT4930 has never given me more than 97% quality on any TP, regardless of dish and LNB tweaking. Contrary experiences are welcome.

That's true. Some STB have a more sensitive tuner than others. E.g., a signal that cracks on Humax or Astrovox may be stable on Strong or Skybox. In addition, it also depends on how the Graphic User Interface and the signal meter have been programmed. E.g. A signal quality of 35% on the Satlink meter will read 65% on the SRT4922, yet it is the same intensity measure.
