If you stay ready you ain’t gotta get ready.
She was a heartbeat away from the presidency, both literally and figuratively for over 5 years.
What the hell was she doing that whole entire time?
Zitto is trippin’.
So, let me dissect, deconstruct and somersault this 360 degrees, with nascent nuances and relevant references from the horse's mouth.
First of all, I am all for giving people chances. Heck, second chances if needed (but almost always never thirds).
Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, said once is happenstance, twice could be coincidence, but thrice is design.
So I kinda get the whole thing about "we need to give the president some time" idea. There are so many power moves and political Jiu-Jitsu jabs to be done to canvass and coalesce, streamline and strategize, a whole high school level hoopla of highfalutin' hijinks and circus clowning, trapeze tap dancing and mildly maturated kabuki kaleidoscope coordination.
So, I am not totally against what Zitto said. The president could certainly use some time to prepare for the onslaught of realpolitik.
But then again, a project without a timeline is a ticket to never ending chicanery.
Give her time until when? What metrics are we using to say now is the right time to rail on her?
The three weeks of mourning are over.
Is this gonna be like the FDR 100 days thing or a whole year? A little exactitude goes a long way.
The other thing I have learned is, not to simply look at the argument, but also the motive for the argument. You do not want to be one of thise "useful idiots" attributed to Vladimir Illyich Lenin, hoodwinked unknowingly to someone else's less than transparent agenda.
Zitto may very well be appealing to his sense of patriotism, to support the president, with the noble understanding that, whether you are in the opposition or not, if the president fails, the whole country fails.
If this is the case, I have more sympathy for his position. I can totally support that, with all the usual equivocating caveats.
But, there is a more nefarious angle too. Zitto may be positioning himself as a sympathetic voice simply to benefit from the good graces of the new president, this I will oppose.
How do you tell one motive from the other? By looking at his arguments, whether they are principled or partisan.
I was hanging out with the cool crowd, from the loud literati, diaspora dandies to self imposed exile types. I was like, this new president does not impress me. Sounds like old wine in not-so-new bottle. I was talking about how she placed her son in law in the cabinet. I called that nepotism.
Zitto, in a very clearly apologist way, was furious at me and my kind, saying that, where do we get the moral authority to go after the new president for nepotism, while Magufuli was doing the same and we did not raise our voices.
I told him, I did raise my voice. Moreover, two wrongs do not make a right. I have the right to be wrong about Magufuli and correct myself on Hassan. I was like dude, let's talk principles, not people.
He was like you are right, you are right, in your case, you have the moral authority.
He came across totally as an apologist with a shabbily thought out argument.
That's the kinda shit I can't stand for.
