Four Tanzanians in possession of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of 7.1 billion shillings ($4.4 million) were arrested in two separate incidents Saturday (July 6th), Tanzania's The Citizen reported.
Two women were arrested at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa with 150 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine in their possession. The drugs, locally known as "tik", have an estimated street value of 7 billion shillings ($4.3 million), according to the South Africa Revenue Service (SARS).
"It is the biggest tik or crystal meth bust that SARS customs has made at any port of entry," said SARS spokesperson Marika Muller.
In the second incident, two people were arrested at Julius Nyerere International Airport Saturday afternoon in Dar es Salaam with two kilogrammes of heroin in their possession, with a street value of 90 million shillings ($55,000).
The couple was en route to Bangkok when they were arrested, said Godfrey Nzowa, head of the Tanzanian Police Force's anti-narcotics unit.

Let us wait for more incidents to occur as we wait for the current regime to conclude their term. At the same time we are waiting for a statement possibly from the citizen number one at every month's speech to hear what the government has to say on this deadly image killer in front of the international members.

If they delay to give a statement then this will give the news speculators to say anything. I hope this is more deadly than CHADEMA'S intention to recruit Regbrigade youthful ones who received a wider coverage from everybody including the citizen number one.

God bless Tanzania God bless AFRICA

"I might be inclined to place a reward on their heads, the members of the ninja or the members of the police who are protecting the drug syndicates in this country. I am placing per head 2 million peso [$43,000]," President Rodrigo Duterte said in a National Heroes Day speech on Monday.

"I want the police and the armed forces to destroy the drug apparatus in this country," he told retired and serving soldiers, government officials, and foreign diplomats.

He also said that officers who are aware of unethical "ninja" cops should "squeal on your friends," Reuters reported.

Last month, Duterte – who came to power in May on a promise to wipe out drugs and dealers – named around 160 officials, judges, police, and soldiers who he said were protecting drug traffickers or selling drugs in their neighborhoods.
