A significant question that has been posed here is whether leaders like JK are indeed chaguo la Mungu. Yes, ni chaguo la Mungu, but one has to know what that means.
God gives us what we deserve. Ni chaguo la Mungu in the sense that He allowed it. Hata Pontius Pilate alikuwa ni chaguo la Mungu.
Of fundamental importance is the question about why God would allow evil men to rise to power. But that is just a part of the larger question about why God allows evil in the world. There is only one correct answer, and that is: He allows evil on order to bring a grater good out of it. The greatest evil that ever happened in the world was the crucifixion of the Son of God, and yet that evil resulted in the greatest good ever, which is our salvation.
We are currently ravaged by corruption and mismanagement. Out of this evil, there will emerge a better informed citizenry, true democracy and rule of law. We needed and deserved the people we elected.
I would say Fr. Mapunda spoke prophetically. He dares to ruffle feathers when the need arises. He is absolutely correct when he says that the National Electoral Commission is not democratically constituted. How can one of the teams singly select the referee?
