A series of airstrikes targeted sites belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the Deir Ezzor region of eastern Syria on Monday night, with initial reports indicating senior IRGC members were meeting at one of the targeted sites, according to Syrian media.

Several deaths and injuries were reported in the strikes, according to the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen TV.

A source in the pro-Assad regime National Defense Forces militia stated that 10 airstrikes were carried out in Al-Mayadeen, Al-Bukamal, and in villages in the area, according to the Iranian Mehr News Agency.

Iranian press reported that Zahedi was meeting with leaders of Palestinian Islamic Jihad at the time of the strike, but these reports could not be independently verified.
