In a stern and resolute address, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination, Hon. William Lukuvi, delivered a cautionary message to the residents of the Ngorongoro Division.

He implored them to remain vigilant against the insidious influence of individuals and groups harboring malevolent intentions, particularly those exploiting the reach of social media platforms.

His words carried a grave warning: succumbing to such manipulation would not only threaten to undermine their livelihoods, stripping them of stability and security, but would also cast a long, dark shadow over the nation’s reputation, eroding the hard-earned respect and unity that Tanzania has cultivated on the global stage.

Speaking to residents in the villages of Kayapusi and Irkepus, Hon. Lukuvi emphasized their responsibility to uphold peace and stability in the area and to resist any negative influences from those who do not have the country's best interests at heart.

The Minister reiterated that the people of Ngorongoro are Tanzanians with equal rights as other citizens, thus having a duty to safeguard the nation's interests and avoid any tactics aimed at disrupting peace, stability, or the country’s image.

"My dear brothers and sisters, remember that you are part of Tanzania. You have a crucial responsibility to ensure Ngorongoro remains safe so that tourism activities can continue, and the nation can keep benefiting from the visitors who come here," Minister Lukuvi stated.

He added, "The tourists you see visiting Ngorongoro are the ones enabling us to build infrastructure and provide social services. They are the ones who pay the salaries of the civil servants who serve you. Therefore, I urge you not to be deceived by such people, as you will lose your homes and essential services if you fall into their trap," Minister Lukuvi elaborated.

In his remarks during the meetings, the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Hon. Paul Makonda, expressed gratitude to the residents for maintaining peace and calm, noting that this has brought great respect to the region and the country as a whole.

"I commend the residents of Ngorongoro Division for maintaining peace and tranquility, particularly during the five days when you voiced your grievances. Your calm demeanor ensured that tourism activities in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area continued without any disruptions," Hon. Makonda underscored.

A few days ago, the residents of Ngorongoro Division petitioned the government to overturn the decision to suspend local government elections in their area, arguing that the ongoing resettlement of people from Ngorongoro to Msomera and other locations is entirely voluntary and, therefore, should not be used as a basis to halt the electoral process.
