Sergio Ramos: Zidane won over the Real Madrid dressing room and that's not easy

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has spoken of the incredible success that his side have had in the past few years, while also giving lots of praise to head coach Zinedine Zidane.

The defender believes Los Blancos have had a good dressing room under his captaincy and with Zidane at the helm.

"Our coach is breaking all of the records set by every coach that has managed this team," Ramos said at the unveiling of Nike's new Tiempo 7 boots in Madrid.

"The key is that he has been able to transmit all of the talent he had as a player to the bench.

"He has won over a dressing room that is not easy [to manage, with all of the big names].

"We are very close to him."

Real have come off a season in which they won the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, LaLiga for the first time in five years, and the Champions League for the second year in a row, yet Ramos is not resting on his laurels.

"Football, for better and for worse, does not give you time to enjoy what you have just achieved," he stated.

"It is madness to achieve three Champions League titles in four years.

"When we finish our careers, we will be able to look back and see what we have accomplished; we can look at our medals.

"Our goals must be as high as possible so that we try to exceed ourselves every year.

"We want to break records and statistics.

"We're starting from scratch; we must set the tone [at the start of the campaign] and aspire to win all potential trophies."

Having won virtually everything possible during his career, Ramos maintains that he still has the same ambition as when he was a long-haired youngster at Sevilla.

"The last year, 2017, has been very good for me," he added.

"I have many years left here [at Real] and I am going to keep this dream, this ambition and this desire as we look to win even more titles.

"Hopefully we can maintain this level [of dominance].

"I feel very good physically and also personally, at this time."

With it being just a few days until the capital city side return to pre-season training, Ramos is already anticipating some tough games during their tour of the United States.

"In pre-season this year we have a Clasico in Miami and we are very keen to reach a good level of form as soon as possible," he continued.

"That way, we are able to measure ourselves against good teams that will be going for titles, like [Manchester] United and Barcelona."

Los Blancos will also have a Supercopa de Espana double-header against Barcelona as they warm up for the league season.

The Real Betis midfielder's representatives are negotiating his contract with Real, with confirmation of a deal expected this weekend or Monday.

Dani Ceballos has said 'yes' to a summer move to Real Madrid.

The Real Betis midfielder was on Friday given a 24-hour ultimatum by Real to make a decision over his future, and his response has been categorical: he only wants to play at the Bernabéu.

As a result, Ceballos's representative, Margarita Garay, has stepped up talks with Real director José Ángel Sánchez in a bid to tie up the terms of his contract.

Ceballos agreement set for confirmation in coming days
Barring any surprise setbacks, a deal will be announced this weekend or on Monday.

Real on Friday intensified their efforts to complete the signing of the Spain Under-21 star as Los Blancos' players return to work on Monday, and head coach Zinedine Zidane wants to know at that point who he'll have at his disposal in 2017/18.

As part of their contract proposal to Ceballos, the club have guaranteed him a place in the first-team squad (the initial plan had been to loan him out, either back to Betis or to another LaLiga side, in his first season).

AS has learned that Real believe their offer - understood to be a five or six-year deal - to be "a considerable one both in financial and sporting terms".

Barcelona still trying to sign Ceballos from under Real's noses
All the while, Barcelona's efforts to persuade Ceballos to choose the Camp Nou continue. However, the player appears set on Madrid.

Barça's inability to secure Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti have seen them turn with increasing urgency to the 20-year-old, but Los Azulgranas look to have been beaten to the punch by their arch rivals.

Real Madrid-Real Betis deal not likely to be problematic
Reaching an agreement with Betis is not expected to be a major hurdle for Real, as the release clause in Ceballos's contract is set at a very affordable 15m euros.

Nevertheless, Los Merengues could well pay a higher figure for him in a bid to maintain the good relations they enjoy with the Seville-based outfit.

Modric: When you win, you want it more and more

This Saturday, both in the newspaper and our digital version, there is an exclusive interview with Luka Modric where he talks about how intoxicating Real Madrid's winning habit is.

The Croatian is still in his native Zadar as he prepares to return for pre-season.

"When you win something, once, twice, three times, and you have that feeling... it pushes you forward again," he said.

"You want to win more, and more and more.

"We are in a club that always wants to be the best, wants to win everything possible, and the players have the same thoughts."

Modric disects last season, what Madrid face from now on ... Ramos, Bale, Ronaldo, Kovacic, Asensio...and delightful anecdotes about his coach, Zinedine Zidane.

Read the full interview on Saturday.

Good news to me, Vallejo, Llorente, Asensio, this guy and Mayoral has to improve somehow. And we want another young striker who can keep the ball on his feet.

Yeah Mayoral needs to rediscover his Castilla days form. He'll be taking Mariano's role anyway, so we won't be counting on him that much.

One time for this mastermind. Jose Angel Sanchez.

Ceballos rejects Barcelona to agree six-year Real Madrid contract

Real Madrid appear to have secured the signing of Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos for a fee in the region of 18 million euros.

Just like Theo Hernandez's capture from Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos are to pay a few million euros over the stipulated release clause in the player's contract to ensure a smooth sale, which amounts to 15m euros in Ceballos' case.

Sunday morning saw the final details ironed out and Real will announce the deal on Monday ahead of a medical and the midfielder putting pen to paper on a six-year contract.

On July 20, Ceballos is scheduled to fly out to San Francisco alongside Spain Under-21 teammates Jesus Vallejo, Marco Asensio and Marcos Llorente to join up with Zinedine Zidane and the Madrid squad on their pre-season tour.

The deal means that the coach's midfield will be more than fully stocked ahead of the new season - Llorente is also a new face after a loan spell at Alaves - and the man left out may be James Rodriguez as the Colombian looks elsewhere for first-team football.

Failing that, Lucas Vazquez and Mateo Kovacic have proposals from Roma and across Italy, respectively, should they become more serious in their demand for greater game time.

Furthermore, Ceballos' move to Real means Barcelona are once again left to seek alternatives in the transfer market having seemingly failed in their pursuits of Marco Verratti and Hector Bellerin.
