Post Match Analysis (Las Palmas 2-2 Real Madrid)

A GAME OF MISSED CHANCES.

We dropped another 2 points today. This time, it wasn't the opposition that played well really, but we played poorly. We had our chances. We had tons of good opportunities. We didn't take many of them. Attacking today was lackluster. Midfield was not the same and defensive marking was horrible. Absolutely ridiculous this. Zidane had a beautiful run. HAD. i feel like he's got his doubters but one needs to believe in the coach and needs to understand that if the players do not show up for the coach then it won't work out for the team. We played with 4-3-3 today. Guillem Balague and Laudrup summed it up for me: " They didn't deserve to lose. They had their chance. Zidane will know, this is 2 points dropped not 1 point gained."


DEFENSE:

Casilla played well...for most of the game. Of all the attacks las palmas had, he dealt with them well. For the second goal, his positioning wasn't the best but the ball did take a wicked deflection. Ramos-Varane-Nacho-Carvajal were poor. I've put the "-" to highlight that the combination was poor. They had no link up. They had no chemistry today. Nacho separately assisted Asensio very well. He was active in attack as well as defense. I'm going to sum it up for all of them together. When they switched off, we conceded. They were poor marking wise too. Ramos won't be dropped for the Dortmund clash but one sees that PEPE needs to start that game.


MIDFIELD:

I could see why Modric was dropped last game. He wasn't a 100% today either. Maybe it is fatigue because of the vast number of minutes during last season, the euros but he didn't seem himself. Kroos, helped the attack indeed today. He was sufficient in passing along the pitch but questions must be asked of these two and the passing of the team in the final third. Something needs to happen. Asensio played today. He scored today. Instinctively and determined performance today. He looked like he helped the midfield in Casemiro's absence but tracking back wise, he needs to work on his strength. I feel like an attacking substitution should have been made earlier. I mean ISCO/James should have come on earlier and for the right players.

ATTACK:

Ronaldo-Morata-Bale started today. I honestly really liked it. The link up was good. New partners so maybe needs work but i could see the potential. Morata was the best out of the 3 definitely. He created good chances for Ronaldo, who didn't take him. Michael Laudrup today spoke on Ronaldo and was asked if he should be benched. He replied with a straight no, definitely not. He's not himself right now but for the best players in the world, match fitness is gotten from playing as much as you can and finding your feet. Benzema came on and scored but did he look like he was himself again? No. Certainly not. Zidane's staff needs to get these players match fit and back to themselves.


Summary:

We played against Las Palmas at their home. We expected a tough game but we didn't get that from the opposition. We created a lot of opportunities. We just didn't take them. We conceded today because of lackluster marking by our back four. Questions need to be addressed about that and the media will have a field day with Zidane especially after he substituted Ronaldo when the match wasn't won. Would ronaldo staying on have helped us keep the lead and win the match? We'll never know. All i know is, He is the right man for the job. They need our support and confidence.

We play Borussia Dortmund next and the bookies have said we'll concede more than once and lost by atleast 2 goals. I think they're absolutely WRONG. We may not be favorites but we're REAL MADRID. It doesn't come easy, we're not playing like ourselves at all but eh, as cliche as it is, if you can't support the team when we lose, then why support them at all? [HASHTAG]#HalaMadrid[/HASHTAG]

Pale mbele Cristiano na Bale walikuwa off, Benzema kaingia kama sub lakini was the same. Sub ambayo siielewi ni ya Morata because he was only one on the forward line played better.

Zidane (on Cristiano substitution): "We're playing on Tuesday and he has to rest from time to time."
