Police investigate HUT 8 investment scheme in Kasese

Police in Kasese District have launched investigations into an online investment scheme accused of defrauding residents of their money.

Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said investigators from Police Headquarters have travelled to Kasese to register complaints from people who claim to have lost money through the HUT 8 online application.

Maate said the platform attracted residents by promising high returns on their investments, but allegedly disappeared after collecting money from investors.

Several residents are now reporting losses, prompting Police to begin investigations into the scheme and establish how the funds were collected and where they went.

Police have urged affected individuals to come forward and record statements as investigations continue.
