One person was shot dead following an armed attack on Bugiye Sub-county Police Station in Kasese District at around 2:00am on Wednesday, police have said.
Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke said the deceased was among an estimated six people armed with pangas who attacked the station and attempted to disarm an officer on duty.
According to Rusoke, the officer resisted and shot one of the attackers in the leg. The suspect fled the scene but was later found dead a short distance from the police station.
Four suspects — Simon Irumba, Kiiza Abson, George Kadama and Lenaxi Baluku — have since been arrested in connection with the attack.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and trace other suspects. Security teams remain on alert and prepared to respond to similar attacks.
