Mimi ni binti mwenye umri wa miaka 28, nina Bsc in Wildlife Science and Conservation from UDSM, niko tayari kufanya kazi katika mazingira ya aina yoyote ile na kazi yoyote ile halali na kama sio ya professional yangu nina uwezo wa ku learn haraka endapo nitapewa nafasi hiyo.

Udzungwa Forest Project
PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR

The Udzungwa Forest Project aims to research and conserve the rare animals, plants and habitats of the Udzungwa Mountains and surrounding area. Activities include monitoring, environmental education, capacity building, conservation planning and ecological research. The main focus is Magombera forest, home to many rare and threatened species, and currently threatened by high levels of illegal activity. The Project Co-ordinator will oversee all of these activities including management of the field team, and reporting to the Project Director. The project is funded and co-ordinated through Flamingo Land, one of the UK's largest tourist attractions, centre for captive breeding and supporter of conservation. Research direction for the project is through CIRCLE, the Centre for Research, Conservation and Learning, a research institute of the University of York (Times Higher Education University of the Year).


Job Description - UFP is looking for a co-ordinator for all aspects of the project, to be based at the Udzungwa Ecological Monitoring Centre, Mang'ula, Morogoro Region. - The initial focus will be the forest of Magombera and nearby villages, including facilitation of environmental education, conservation and sustainability planning in nearby villages. - The position will include some fieldwork to monitor forest ecology. The results of monitoring will be used to guide land-use management plans and capacity building. - The successful applicant will also be required to maintain and update project databases, accounts and to make quarterly progress reports. - Project activities will later be extended to other areas in the Udzungwa Mountains. - Salary: negotiable, depending on experience (with potential for registration on a masters or PhD programme to study village natural resource use and sustainability).

Requirements - Bachelors degree in a relevant subject e.g. socio-ecology, natural resources, resource economics, forestry, conservation, wildlife management, ecology (masters preferred). - At least 2 documented years of experience in wildlife monitoring and/or conservation planning, preferably in relation to forests. - The applicant must be enthusiastic, an excellent communicator, and able to work well with people. - The applicant must also be physically fit, and must have some prior experience of camping and conducting research in primitive conditions. - Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word are also essential. - Duration: long-term, beginning March 2011 (initially for a probationary period of three months).
