On Ndulu: The "Guardian" must be kidding me!

Kwa kweli Guardian limechoka. Hadi leo nalilia The African la OLD Habari Corporation.

I doubt about eligibility and deep understanding and analysis of issues by the editor. he should have taken criticism positively and make a u-turn from there but not coming with words of trying to console himself. There are facts commented on ndulu story, the editor if bright enough should have taken the criticism points and defend them or agree that he may didn't have the facts right. You cannot justify that b/se in 2005 they stole 133billion, we taken measures to increase salaries to internal BoT staff to 40 billion to ensure that they don't collaborate with outsiders to swindle the money... will that justify that spending?? the same as justifying the spent of 1.5billion by a rental of USD78000 per year...this doesn't add up... and especially when coming from a reputable newspaper where we believed that the editors are learned and good analysts.....

The Guardian started well but over the last few year sisi baadhi ya wasomaji tumeona mabadiliko ambapo wengine tunaona hili gazeti ni mdomo wa mzee.
Tunafahamu kuwa wahariri siyo wenye magazeti na wao at the end of the inabidi watoto wacheke nyumbani.
Badala ya bla bla angalieni wapi mlianza kwenda kombo halafu mrudi kwenye track kama independent paper you will be surprised sisi ambao ndiyo wadau wakuu tutakavyo respond.

The Guardian wanaomba urafiki

Contrary to many excellent views above, I have had a different angle of the scenarios within the Guardian script.

QUOTE:'It should be noted that out of thousands stories received by the European Union panelists last year, The Guardian on Sunday's stories on the spate of albino killings were voted the best of Africa beating out more than 400 other entries from over 100 newspapers, radio and TV stations.'

The quote above is just a tip of iceberg. Instead of blaming our free forums through citizen journalism, you should have acknowledge our role in highlighting areas which the mainstream media organisations fear to address.

For your information nowadays our forum is a source for triggering 'a big conversation' among Tanzanian citizens.

Thanks for visiting our forum, hope you will continue to do so.

Mbona jibu la ovyo sana hilo? What's wrong with the Guardian? After all, this is far from being a monolith group!

I believe they just wanted to put us on notice; to declare that they are the superpower and we are but a miniature entity in this whole saga.

Ipp Media haina prospect! Yaani niliacha kusoma the Gurdian 2004 nilipokuwa natafuta kazi! and I dont even miss em' its just peace of gabbage! Hakuna ubunifu wowote waandika kwa mazoea! and now wameanza kudandia magari mabovu! Huwezi kumwita a distinguished leader Kiongozi mbinafsi kama huyo mchumi Beno! and now unajisifia eti umepewa tuzo na mzungu kwa kuandika mauaji ya albino! What is that!

uuuuwi!!! sijaona siku nyingi watu wakimkoma nyani gileni.. this is refreshing!

Towards an independent editors forum

GABBY MGAYA, 24th January 2010 @ 15:01, Total Comments: 1, Hits: 391

EFFORTS at forming a truly independent editors' forum in the country are going on. One can see it coming. Saw some of the forum's organising committee members last week and in our conversation it was crystal clear that they are up to something good.

In sharp contrast with the past, the new editors' forum will be truly independent of influence from some powers that be in the media industry, topnotch politics and big business.

It used to happen in the past that some among the ‘powers-that-be' made sure that their voices and wishes were achieved by planting their own aides (wapambe) as the forum's top office bearers. This way the so-called big brothers could dictate their own terms to the forum.

That was the kind of forum that could influence a wider section of ladies and gentlemen of the profession of the fourth estate to gag their mouths with plaster and demonstrate in the streets of Dar es Salaam against the information minister's decision to suspend a tabloid that had clearly violated professional ethics – in the name of media freedom or independence.

Some of the senior and serious comrades in the profession took the sucker punch and took part in one of the media comedies of recent years. Didn't know until then how hilarious some of my professional colleagues could get.

It is a good thing that some of the colleagues who took part in that media comedy have realised that they did that against their best wisdom. It is always good to realise and appreciate one's mistakes and proceed to make amends.

Soon the forum will conduct elections, which I believe will be free and fair, to elect its new office bearers. It is everyone's hope that the powerful ladies and gentlemen who had dictated their own terms during the previous editors' forum will refrain from exerting undue influence in those elections.

The new forum will no doubt have the gargantuan task of ensuring professional quality that has been on a sharp decline in recent years. There is need to restore the profession's lost old glory and raise it to acceptable standards.
Let it be so.

Let it be so.

Waandishi wetu bwana, kuwaelewa kaaazi mpaka utumie msuli, hata wale ambao wanaonekana lugha wanaiweza wanaandika kama vile mko kijiweni mnatia story.

Real by the first time I read the guardian about the shameful game of the BOT boss, I was astounded; I couldn't believe whether I was reading guardian or 'gazeti la udaku' anyway I decide to read the whole story to know exactly its context but what was written in that news paper was a appalling, worse enough the next day, the guardian repeat the same thing went far by stipulating that the money was spent prudently.
