Many people, especially Christians, support Israel in this issue based on religious beliefs. But this is a very misguided and dangerous precedent. Because if you want to give Israel the land that had been inhabited by other people for thousands of years, based on the claim that they have returned to their land given to them by their god....then what about the Boers in South Africa who also claimed the same? What about Istanbul which was the centre of the Eastern (Orthodox) Christianity? What about the region of Catalonia in Spain which for 400 years was the seat of the Islamic empire? Imagine, if the Black Americans return today to Mali, Nigeria, Angola, DRC, Tanzania etc and claim these lands are theirs!
Are you going to return all these lands to their old, historical owners? But why then are you treating the Jews differently? These guys came mainly from Eastern Europe- Poland, Bulgaria, Romania- how sure are you about their Jewishness? Judaism used to be a religion, not a race. That means you do not have to be in Jerusalem to be Jewish. In fact, most of those who claim to be Jews today, like Netanyahu, have their origins in Khazaria- Georgia- and have nothing whatsoever to do with the Middleast. Be educated.
Tanzania did the right thing to vote against Trump. She voted for international legality (The UN and before it the League of the Nations, had ruled that nobody should appropriate lands belonging to others through acts of war. That's why, though the USA defeated Germany, it did not "annex" that country- as did Israel to a vast swathe of land). I am horrified at the ignorance and outright heartlessness of those who support Israel in this, despite the horrendous crimes that Israel is committing on daily basis on the children, the elderly and people of Palestine. Does your religion justify this, simply because the victim is not of your belief? Do you think your god is happy for this injustice? And who said the Jews have anything in common with the Christians? Didn't they kill your Jesus? I think Jesus would be seething with anger at you where he is! Do you think Jesus will be happy that you love those who killed him? Can't make any sense this one!

Today the Majority of Christians are in palestine controlled areas compared to the number that is in Israel, but shockingly their fellow Christians ( Protestants and Evangelicals) wouldn't care about their plight.

I commend the Catholic and Orthodox churches for standing with the suffering people of Palestine, The Catholic church has been there for more than 16 centuries, while the orthodox church has been there since the early spread of christianity, they have more facts and know the situation in Israel and Palestine better than these "born again" churches.
