New numbers for trio

Antonio Valencia will wear the iconic no.7 shirt for Manchester United in 2012/13.
ManUtd.com can also reveal that summer signings Nick Powell and Shinji Kagawa will wear no.25 and no.26 respectively.
Ecuador winger Valencia requested the no.7 shirt - worn previously by United legends such as George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo - following Michael Owen's departure this summer.
The Reds' remaining squad numbers for the 2012/13 season are yet to be confirmed.

Naomba kuwasilisha wakuu.

I hope Antonio wants to become a United legend! If so, he has to start playing like a real legend.

Berbatov on Spurs radar!!!

There have been strong rumours in recent days that Tottenham are ready to bring back former White Hart Lane idol Berbatov.

The Bulgarian is looking forlorn as he grows increasingly desperate over where his future lies with time not on his side. Galatasaray have declared their interest while his agent Emil Danchev says he wants to speak to AC Milan.

A move to Tottenham would be difficult. Daniel Levy is not keen on bringing in older players with limited re-sale value when they would still cost £5million or more.

United are far from happy about losing Zeki Fryers to Tottenham and are ready to demand £6m ahead of an expected tribunal while the player is keen to play regularly and that would be unlikely if Emmanuel Adebayor finally signs.

Postcard from Durban
Pre-season tours can be odd affairs - too much travel and too many sponsor commitments.
But Manchester United's players looked like they were having a blast on a visit to a South African safari park.

Don't be shy, lads: Manchester United's players pose with the snake as part of their pre-season tour

While Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed a round of glof with old boys Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick at the at Zimbali Country Club in Durban, the rest of the squad posed for some fun pictures - including a giant snake!
Stars such as Rio Ferdinand, Antonio Valencia and Anderson showed they had no fear of a giant Boa constrictor called Fluffy.
Perhaps eager to impress his team-mates, youngster Robbie Brady was the first to volunteer to hold Fluffy before others joined him.

LUCAS MOURA SET TO UNDERGO MANCHESTER UNITED MEDICAL

On his way: Lucas closing in on United move.

Manchester United look to have finally won the race to sign Sao Paulo's Lucas Moura with reports claiming the Brazilian wonderkid will tie up a £30million move to Old Trafford in the next 48 hours.

The 19-year-old is understood to be undergoing a medical in Manchester today after being granted permission to leave Brazil's Olympic squad to complete the formalities of the deal.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken matters into his own hands as the transfer saga dragged on opting to stay behind as his United side jetted to Norway yesterday for their pre-season friendly with Valerenga.

United's official website says Ferguson absence is due to the Scot being on "other club business" and reports insist that is to oversee the arrival of Lucas.

Reports in Italy on Thursday had claimed Internazionale had been struck a deal with Sao Paulo, with Lucas left to just agree personal terms with the Italian giants.

However, the Brazilian giants moved quickly to dismissed the reports, with vice-president Paulo de Jesus Lopes claiming that they have held official talks only with United.

"I'm not aware of this information," he told Lancenet. "I was with (Sao Paulo president) Juvenal Juvenicio (Wednesday and Thursday). "We sat only to negotiate with Manchester United, but their offer was not good enough."

Lucas' agent Wagner Ribeiro had hinted a fortnight ago that United were the Brazilian's prefered destination despite interest from the likes of Inter, Chelsea and Real Madrid. "He told me to keep negotiating when I talked about Manchester United's interest," Ribeiro told Radio Globo. "It's a great offer. If it was an [impossible to refuse] one, he would leave."

United failed with a previous £27m offer last month, but after Lopes admitted his side were still open to negotiations they have returned to seal a deal for one of the brighest talents in South America. Lucas' former Sao Paulo team-mate Fernandinho, who recently joined UAE gaints Al Jazira, has backed his compatriot to be a huge success in the English game.
"Concerning Lucas I know him very well, his potential," said Fernandinho. "He is a very high class player even despite his age, he has a lot of determination, he has great talent and a lot of skill. He is a fast player he can decide a game at any time even in the Olympic Games.

With Lucas poised to sign it is also being claimed Ferguson will also step up his attempts to sign wantaway Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie this week. United have seen one bid rejected by Arsenal for the Dutch striker, last season's PFA Player of the Year, but are quietly confident they will beat near neighbours Manchester City and Juventus to his signature. Van Persie has made clear his intention to quit the Gunners after refusing to sign a new deal with his existing contract due to expire next summer.

Leading bookmakers continue to make United favourites for his signature and reports claim Ferguson is now readying a new bid for Dutchman nearer to Arsenal's £20m valuation.

United to splash £50m on Moura and Van Persie as Glazers send a signal

Manchester United have agreed a £30million deal for Brazil's Lucas Moura - and Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to take his spending to close on £50m by finally ending the Robin van Persie transfer saga this week.

Lucas Moura will have a medical in Manchester today after travelling down last night from Newcastle for Brazil's Olympic Games quarter-final against Honduras at St James' Park, where he started on the bench.

Ferguson stayed behind to finalise the Moura business when the team left for Norway yesterday for the match against Valerenga.

Van the man: Robin Van Persie is close to moving to Manchester United

He will also be on hand to press ahead with Van Persie's move.

Ferguson is optimistic that any further hitches will be overcome for the Holland striker to become a United player before the season's curtain-raiser in a fortnight.

The Arsenal striker, the current Footballer of the Year, has been courted by Manchester City and Inter Milan and his inclusion in the squad's pre-season preparation in Germany has increased speculation that he may even sign a new contract at the Emirates.

Twinkle toes: Lucas Moura will move to Old Trafford

But he has not concealed his desire to move to Old Trafford and that is the ace up Ferguson's sleeve.

The United boss will have to compromise on his refusal to comply with the Gunners' £25m demand, with the final figure likely to be about the £20m mark.

United's long-awaited transfer move nails suggestions, denied by Ferguson in an interview in The Mail On Sunday two weeks ago, that his spending budget had been restricted because of the club's massive debts incurred by the Glazer family's takeover.

Fergie alimnunua Rooney from Everton kwa 30 million pounds back in 2004 and he was just 18. So being REALISTIC here is that Man Utd. IS BROKE. You don't have that influence you used to have in the transfer market, period!

P.S: If I may remind you Sneijder, Modric, Hazard moves all stalled because of financial reasons.
