Come on you Manures..... who? Ashley Young??

If you seriously think Ashley Young is a missing piece of jigsaw in your bid to match the likes of Barca, you definitely need your head examined!

Smart move by Aston Villa.........£17m for a player like that is some business.

Manchester
United will not stop at the signing of Ashley Young with Sir Alex Ferguson set to break the £80m barrier for the summer by bringing in David De Gea and Luka Modric.

Full story: the Metro

Dont concede to barca's dominance they will be emulated sooner or later. Man U is not reshaping for barca, there are lot more teams that will take care of them(including Arsenal) before next year's UCL final... As for Aston Villa Young was beyond their reach, he is a Uefa material.

Ashley Young yesterday followed Phil Jones in joining the Reds, but Sir Alex Ferguson is geared up for more splurging, according to various reports. The Daily Star says David De Gea will follow for £19million and £30million-rated Wesley Sneijder is uppermost on the Reds' wanted list, while Luka Modric is a back-up target if a move for the Dutchman fails to materialise.

[h=1]Fans welcome Ashley Young[/h]Fans on our Talking Reds message board are having their say on United's deal to sign Ashley Young from Aston Villa...

vazio "He's a very good player, I can't wait to see how he will improve under Sir Alex's guidance."

Carl Allen "It's great to have him at the club. I wish him all the best in the future and look forward to seeing him play and creating few chances for Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez."

Tommo0407 "Ashley Young is a great signing for United. He has already proved that he is worthy of playing at the highest level with his performances for England in the last few games."

IrishNemanja "Brilliant signing. He creates loads of assists, can score goals and is very good from dead ball situations, be it corners or free-kicks. Just because he was playing for Aston Villa doesn't mean it's not a big signing. Great player to have."

Mufc8Ando "Anyone who says Young is not a great signing is talking rubbish. If we buy in too many foreign players we'll end up like Arsenal – inconsistent and trophyless. We need good young English players who know what the league is about, or at least players with Premier League experience as a base to our squad. Young and Jones are two great signings to start the summer off with."

Javier Hernandez's fairytale season ended on a soaring high, as the United striker and his Mexico team-mates came from behind to beat host nation United States in the Gold Cup final.

Chicharito secured the golden boot and player of the tournament awards for his outstanding exertions in taking El Tri to the final, but he had to settle for the role of provider as his side roared back from two goals down to post a stunning 4-2 victory.
After the United striker had poked against the post in the second minute, the US stormed ahead as Michael Bradley and Landon Donovan struck inside the first 25 minutes. Crucially, Mexico soon hit back when Chicharito fed West Ham winger Pablo Barrera to halve the arrears, and Andres Guardado popped up to level matters before the interval.

El Tri were ahead soon after the break as Barrera struck again, before Giovani dos Santos completed the comeback with a superbly composed finish. Chicharito was unable to nab his customary goal - though he was incorrectly flagged offside as he bore down on goal late on - but the United striker cared not a jot.

His work had already been done in hauling Mexico to the final with his seven-goal haul, and the 23-year-old was quick to hail his side's collective resolve after the final whistle. "Things were difficult but the coach told us to fight every single play," he said. "Our attitude is in our hands."

[h=2]DAVID DE GEA has moved a step closer to becoming a Manchester United player after undergoing a medical today.[/h]The 20-year-old Spanish goalkeeper arrived at Bridgewater Hospital this afternoon for tests before wrapping up his £18million move from Atletico Madrid.

United officials tried to hide the 6ft 5ins stopper using a white blanket but failed to beat our eagle-eyed cameras.
After having his cover blown, De Gea entered the facility via an emergency exit.
He is expected to be confirmed as Alex Ferguson's latest summer signing tomorrow and will join fellow new recruits Phil Jones and Ashley Young at Old Trafford next season.

Papers: De Gea deal almost done
De Gea flies in to seal deal
David de Gea is set to complete his £18.3 million transfer from Atlético Madrid to Manchester United on Tuesday after flying into Manchester to undergo a medical on Monday. Goalkeeper De Gea, who helped Spain to success in the European Under-21 Championship in Denmark earlier this month, will take United’s summer spending to £49.8 million after being identified by Sir Alex Ferguson as the successor to Edwin van der Sar, who retired at the end of last season. Despite attempts by United to keep De Gea’s arrival in Manchester under wraps by hiding the 20 year-old behind a blanket as he entered the Bridgewater Hospital for his medical on Monday afternoon, his capture was heralded by Ferguson last month, with the United manager confirming in May that a deal had been thrashed out for the highly-rated youngster. Ferguson is determined to add at least one further signing to his squad before the start of the new season, with interest in Wesley Sneijder and Samir Nasri expected to result in a bid for at least one of those players.

Mark Ogden, The Telegraph
In other transfer news, the Mirror claims Sunderland are still in pole position to land £5million midfielder Darron Gibson, despite interest from rivals Newcastle. However, while Newcastle have yet to open talks with the Old Trafford hierarchy, a Sunderland bid was lodged a couple of weeks ago.

Talksport have an interview with News of the World journalist Neil Ashton on their website in which he insists Samir Nasri is a top target for the Reds and Sir Alex has his "heart set" on landing the Arsenal midfielder, who only has a year left to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium. This story first broke in L'Equipe some time ago and will rumble on unless the midfielder signs a new deal.
