63 min: Terrible pass from Jagielka, and Herrera fed Rooney, who was all alone through the middle, racing clear, and had the easy chance of scoring, because Howard went down far too early and just allowed Rooney to sidefoot it into the centre of the net. Dreadful defending, and the contrast between the goalkeepers couldn’t be starker.

67 min: United could score four or five here: they’ve been so dominant. A really excellent team performance. The pass from Herrera for the goal was really excellent, and good on Rooney: he needed that.

90 min + 2: We spoke earlier about Rooney maybe not being the player he once was, but he’s played very well today, linking nicely with Martial and Herrera, and scoring that third goal. Martial, again, burns Coleman down the left, but he can’t quite find a teammate, and Everton hack clear.
