In recognition of the central role to be undertaken by the National Police Service in preparation for securing AFCON 2027, the DIG APS Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, CBS, OGW, SS participated in the "Securing 2026 UEFA Champions League Final Delivery and Legacy: International Observation Programme" at Budapest, Hungray whose climax was the UEFA Champions League match between Arsenal and PSG.
The program which was co facilitated by the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism and the National Counter Terrorism Centre provided practical insights into sports security operations, crowd management, fan engagement, and event coordination, strengthening preparedness for the successful delivery of major international sporting events.
The DIG's participation will strengthen Kenya's institutional preparedness, enrich inter-agency coordination frameworks and embed global best practices into the security architecture for AFCON2027.
