Salam kwa members wote.
It has been six years now since Jamii Forums was launched, and since its very inception it has been a controversial forum. There were numerous rumors as to who were behind its creation and the intentions of its founders vis a vis the Tanzanian politics.
Today JamiiForums is believed to be the largest East African Forum, with more than 87,000 members (and counting) and its growth in Tanzania is faster than international social media like facebook or twitter. We can see members interacting under different type of membership, we read articles from Fikra Pevu, we have seen a Kenyan Forum and all these indicate a new direction for Jamii forums.
Given the alleged influence it had on the 2010 elections and the role it is currently playing in shaping he public opinion, several questions come to some of us: Who is Maxence Melo? who else could be behind Jamii Forums? What was the idea behind the creation of Jamii Forums? How is Jamii Forums positioning itself in the Tanzanian Political, economic and social sphere etc.
On Friday the 17th, at 11:00 AM east African Time (Saa tano asubuhi kamili saa za Africa Mashariki) we invite Jamii Forum Founder and owner, Maxence Melo, to respond to some of these questions. The interview will be conducted by King'asti, a long time JF member whom we believe has the necessary impartiality and perspicacity to ask Maxence pertinent questions that will enlighten our lanterns.
We welcome all questions from members and with Maxence permission we also welcome some suggestions on how to improve on Jamii Forum presence in the Tanzanian, Kenyan and eventually East African Community Political life.
We hope to have all Jamii Forums members online that day.
