It’s official: America is now No. 2

It is said to be China's biggest church and on Easter Sunday thousands of worshippers will flock to this Asian mega-temple to pledge their allegiance – not to the Communist Party, but to the Cross.

The 5,000-capacity Liushi church, which boasts more than twice as many seats as Westminster Abbey and a 206ft crucifix that can be seen for miles around, opened last year with one theologian declaring it a "miracle that such a small town was able to build such a grand church".

The £8 million building is also one of the most visible symbols of Communist China's breakneck conversion as it evolves into one of the largest Christian congregations on earth.

"It is a wonderful thing to be a follower of Jesus Christ. It gives us great confidence," beamed Jin Hongxin, a 40-year-old visitor who was admiring the golden cross above Liushi's altar in the lead up to Holy Week.

"If everyone in China believed in Jesus then we would have no more need for police stations. There would be no more bad people and therefore no more crime," she added

What significance of any religion in China has to do with the economy? Most Chinese are Atheist, Confucists and Budhists for centruries and decades. USA had been Christian all the way and yet it owes China above USD 16 trillions in government bonds.

How do you calculate per capita GDP kama hakuna uhusiano na GDP? Maana paragraph ya kwanza unataka kusema kuwa GDP haina uhusiano na GDP per capita ila ina uhusiano na economic growth...GDP per capita ina uhusiano na economic development...you can't be serious....hayo yote yako linked my dear...what is needed is country policy on redistribution

Wewe main argument yako ambayo umeshindwa au unasita kuiweka wazi ni kuwa "no matter how big the economy of China becomes, it will never be enough due to its population size" kitu ambacho ndio kinatuletea utata na ubishi sababu hakuna logic ...

But again it does not justify to praise USA as having the best Ustawi Jamii while it has an equivalent of the whole Tanzania population living belowpeverty line

16 trillion?? Sio kweli kabisa,16T is total gross debt na deni kubwa ni domestic and Federal government itself,Chinese wanadai around one trillion na ukiweka in net debt ni under a trillion

chige nashukuru kwa michangoo yako mizuri na mimi nakuunga mkono hapo kwenye ustawi wa jamii kati ya mataifa makubwa duniani, ukweli ni kwamba wasiishie kuangala just GDP figures ila waingie zaidi kuangalia how well their citizens are better off. Tukitumia GDP per capita still tutakuwa tunakosea kwasababu distribution of income is never the same across the society. Kwamfano leo hii Bill Gates amekuwa mtanzania inamaanisha GDP per capita ya watanzania ita-shoot sana na ikionesha kuwa Tanzanians are better of than any other african countries. Kumbe sio.

Sasa hivi wataalamu wameamua kutumia HDI (Human Development Index) wakiangalia availability and accessibility of basic social and necessary needs.

That is what I had been telling my.learned brother Chige, without Human Development Index and Improved Human Development Index the Purchasing Power Parity alone is not enough to say that USA has the best UJ in the World. Norway ranks first (Reference UNDP report of 2014) USA ranks 5th.
Bear in mind that an ordinary US citizen cannot afford best health care because he/she cannot afford Insurance cover which is a must in USA, mind Obama Care. Let me remind of the housing buble and the fore closure where millions of people in USA lost their homea due to defaulting their dues.
Most public institutions like schools and hospital are not good by their own USA standards and requirements.
Please do not compare the PPP/ HDI of USA and that of Bongo. You cannot even compare that of Norway vs USA.

no matter how big the economy of China becomes, it will never be enough due to its population size" kitu ambacho ndio kinatuletea utata na ubishi sababu hakuna logic ...
First, yanini unaamua kunilisha maneno ili kutetea hoja yako?
Hoja hapa ni kwamba ingawaje GDP ya China inaelekea kuipiku ya US bado ustawi US ni mkubwa kuliko China and it'll take a time kwa China kuipiku US kwenye suala zima la ustawi wa jamii
Now let me ask you: hivi it'll take time ni sawa na kusema it'll never? Ikiwa naamini it'll never, namuogopa nani hata badala yake nitumie neno it'll take time? Au unataka kusema kwako wewe neno "it'll take time" and "it'll never" ni one and the same?

Let's assume kwamba kiingereza sikijui vizuri na hivyo sifahamu tofauti ya neno "it'll take time.." and "it'll never..!" Hivi kuna tofauti gani kati ya kuchelewa na it'll take time? Na unataka kusema neno kuchelewa. tafsiri yake ya Kiingereza ni it'll never? Similar argument: AGAIN... do above sentences reflect what you say about me in any way? Does a sentence, "it'll take time... at least a decade..." is the same as saying "it'll never...?" Do I need to reveal to you that those are three different posts written at different time!! Sasa hata kama ninaamini hivyo unavyolazimisha wewe kwamba ninavyoamini kwamba eti namaanisha "China will never ever reach US standard.." yaani isitokee hata mara moja nikajisahau?

Mwisho unasema kutokana na "argument yangu" ambayo kimsingi sijaisema wala kuimaanisha popote, hatimae unahitimisha
kitu ambacho ndio kinatuletea utata na ubishi sababu hakuna logic...
I hate to say this, but you was supposed to say ndio kitu kinachokuletea na ubishi sababu hakuna logic... na ofcoz, lazima upate utata kwa kuwa unabishania kitu ambacho ama kimeongelewa na mtu mwingine au hakipo kwenye mada hii!

Come on Brother, first off all umenisingizia... never said any where that US is best of all in the world, especially when my concentration is on ustawi wa jamii. However, I can't hesitate to say the US Economy is the most stable economy than any other economy in the world... Just to recall and keep the records correct, Chige says: And you know what, I am afraid may be you missed my point somewhere... am talking of economic development(refer the bold highlighted sentence in dark brown above)... when we talk of ustawi wa jamii we look on economic developement and not per capita! If you go through my posts, I gave examples of Scandinavian countries as best examples! Just to recall and keeps the record corrects, here: However, someone talked of Qatar & the like, again, I insisted to show how much figures (including per capita GDP) doesn't matter as long as we talk of economic development! Here again: But all in all, I already got the last nail into the coffin since the beginning, I mean before above arguments, here's what I told Nyani Ngabu mwanzoni tu ma hoja yangu
Mkuu Nyani Ngabu, ukisikia ustawi wa jamii ina-include elimu, yaani unazingatia indicators za UNDP na sio hizi za IMF or World bank ambazo wanaangalia figures!
I have no doubt that you know when we talk of IMF & World Bank indicators we simply talk of GDP and per capita GDP!

I think this will help the readers:

The HDI was created to emphasize that people and their capabilities should be the ultimate criteria for assessing the development of a country, not economic growth alone. The HDI can also be used to question national policy choices, asking how two countries with the same level of GNI per capita can end up with different human development outcomes. These contrasts can stimulate debate about government policy priorities.

The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living. The HDI is the geometric mean of normalized indices for each of the three dimensions.

The health dimension is assessed by life expectancy at birth component of the HDI is calculated using a minimum value of 20 years and maximum value of 85 years. The education component of the HDI is measured by mean of years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age. Mean years of schooling is estimated by UNESCO Institute for Statistics based on educational attainment data from censuses and surveys available in its database. Expected years of schooling estimates are based on enrolment by age at all levels of education. This indicator is produced by UNESCO Institute for Statistics. Expected years of schooling is capped at 18 years. The indicators are normalized using a minimum value of zero and maximum aspirational values of 15 and 18 years respectively. The two indices are combined into an education index using arithmetic mean.

The standard of living dimension is measured by gross national income per capita. The goalpost for minimum income is $100 (PPP) and the maximum is $75,000 (PPP). The minimum value for GNI per capita, set at $100, is justified by the considerable amount of unmeasured subsistence and nonmarket production in economies close to the minimum that is not captured in the official data. The HDI uses the logarithm of income, to reflect the diminishing importance of income with increasing GNI. The scores for the three HDI dimension indices are then aggregated into a composite index using geometric mean. Refer to Technical notes for more details.

The HDI does not reflect on inequalities, poverty, human security, empowerment, etc. The HDRO offers the other composite indices as broader proxy on some of the key issues of human development, inequality, gender disparity and human poverty.

A fuller picture of a country's level of human development requires analysis of other indicators and information presented in the statistical annex of the report.

Please note this list
Richest Country in Africa Per Capita-Income

1 Seychelles $25,439.92
2 Equatorial Guinea $19,818.11
3 Gabon $17,053.47
4 Botswana $16,578.59
5 South Africa $11,273.08
6 Libya $10,129.61
7 Tunisia $9,706.59
8 Namibia $7,694.44
9 Algeria $7,541.85
10 Egypt $6,594.00

Seychelles – The Richest Country In Africa
GDP (PPP) Per Capita:-$25,439.92

Officially Republic of Seychelles, based on per capita income, it is the wealthiest nation from Africa. This country is made up of small 115 islands and its population is less than 0.1 million. It is located in the Indian Ocean to the East of Africa. It is not located in mainland Africa, but as per conventions it is counted as an African nation. Its GDP is lesser than many people on the list of Forbes billionaires. -Salmon is one of the highly exported thing from this African nation. With a small population and small GDP, it occupies the first spot in this list.

Now if you compare to the Sychelles country like Algeria and Libya which are rich in Oil and gas resources, one should wonder why Sychelles is the richest. We should go back to do root cause analysis and review the PPP, against HDI of these countries and do the reality check.

Nalog off
