Claim
A
video circulating on social media shows an Iranian missile strike on an industrial area in southern Israel.
Verdict
False. The video actually shows a large warehouse fire in Illinois, United States, in 2023, not an attack in Israel.
As conflict escalated in the Middle East between Iran and the United States, before both sides agreed to a two-week ceasefire in April 2026, many misleading images and videos spread online.
One viral video was claimed to show an Iranian missile strike on the Neot Hovav industrial zone near Beersheba in southern Israel. The footage shows buildings on fire with thick smoke rising into the sky.
However, JamiiCheck’s verification found this claim to be incorrect. Using reverse image search, we found the same video was posted online on
February 6, 2023 (
Archived). It was shared by Chicago-based reporter
Sarah Jindra, showing a massive fire at a warehouse in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
News outlets including
ABC7 Chicago also reported the incident, confirming that the fire broke out early in the morning at a manufacturing warehouse and was later extinguished. No injuries were reported.
This confirms the video is old and unrelated to the Middle East conflict and the claim that the video shows an Iranian attack in Israel is misleading. The footage actually shows a warehouse fire in the United States in 2023.
