IGG Submits Anita Among Probe Report to Museveni

The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Aisha Nalule Baatala, has reportedly submitted an investigation report on former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among to Yoweri Museveni. Sources cited by the report claim the submission happened before Parliament elected Jacob Oboth-Oboth as Speaker and Thomas Tayebwa as deputy speaker.

According to the article, investigators were tasked with reviewing Ms Among’s declared income and assets and comparing them with her known properties and lifestyle. The report's contents have not been made public, and it remains unclear whether investigators recommended criminal charges or other actions.

The investigation follows weeks of scrutiny surrounding allegations of corruption, illicit enrichment, and abuse of office. Earlier reports indicated that the IGG had received petitions from lawyers and activists seeking investigations into Among's wealth declarations under the Leadership Code Act.

The story also links the probe to the government's wider anti-corruption campaign, “Operation Maliza Ufisadi,” which has been publicly promoted by Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

As of publication, both the Presidency and the IGG's spokesperson said they were unaware of the reported submission, and no official findings from the report had been released publicly.
