- On March 11, 2026, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) a political mobilisation group chaired by Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba — had officially endorsed Speaker Anita Annet Among and her deputy Thomas Tayebwa for re-election as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament.
On May 12, 2026, PLU Secretary General and Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda publicly announced that this endorsement was "retracted and withdrawn with immediate effect." He urged PLU-aligned MPs to instead wait for, and support, whichever candidates President Yoweri Museveni would put forward for the two positions.
Hon. Justine Nameere Masaka City Woman MP-elect and a vocal Among ally reacted publicly to the withdrawal, accusing Kabanda not Gen. Muhoozi of personally orchestrating the move against Among, and demanding he account for charity funds collected during Gen. Muhoozi's birthday fundraising run.
Claim:
A clipped video has been circulating on TikTok and X, captioned to suggest that Hon. Nameere directly confronted Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, warning him to "stop undermining NRM MPs" and declaring that she is "not among those who fear him." The framing implies defiance aimed at the Chief of Defence Forces himself, and the clip has been re-shared by several accounts.
Findings.
A reverse image/video search using google lens traces the clip to footage that was originally circulated around May 13, 2026, the day after PLU's withdrawal announcement matching the timeline of the Among/PLU dispute, not a separate or more recent event.
Contemporaneous Ugandan press coverage from that period records Nameere's actual words as: "Kabanda, stop undermining NRM MPs; stop undermining the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda.
The statement was explicitly and repeatedly attributed by multiple outlets to Nameere addressing Daudi Kabanda, the PLU Secretary General who announced the withdrawal not Gen. Muhoozi.
Verdict: False/Misleading
The words in the clip are genuine, but the video has been taken out of its original context. Hon. Justine Nameere's "stop undermining NRM MPs" remark was directed at Daudi Kabanda and not General Muhoozi.
