Dar Airport is a hindrance to the promotion of tourism in Tanzania. It is not at all user friendly. When you arrive, you find fewer than ten slots where you can stand and complete arrival forms. The pre-immigration arrival area is miniscule. I have been to many international airports but I do not remember seeing a smaller arrival area.
The departure lounge is as hot as a frying pan. The minimum you would expect in an international departure lounge is that it would be properly air-conditioned. I have suffered in that lounge year after year, for more than ten years. There just does not seem to be any progress in that place. Lately, I have learnt to hide near the one fan that exists in that tiny place that serves as a restaurant there. But there is not enough space there for even ten souls!
Why do we seem to get everything wrong? How can we possibly attract more tourists when we do not pay any attention to the entry point?
