Fastjet still awaits clearance for Nairobi flights as results again improve

i just need the reasons for jumbo jets dominance.

Jambojet (not to be confused with Jumbo Jet) is still at its infant stage. It has not yet gained foothold in the Kenyan market, leave alone EA. But with the agressive manner KQ is promoting the airline, it is set to expand quickly. It charges ksh2800 Nbi and Msa route.

per rules and regulations! Otherwise PW will have legally objected Fastjet Tanzania entrance in Tanzania..even if Fastjet Tanzania was owned by any Tanzanian,i would still support them since they pay tax in Tanzania as incorporated in Tanzania

Stop wishing and give us proof buddy.

Am waiting for a British citizen to complain before I reply to this licence topic.

That is not the case. Those are his opinions not KCAA's or mine or any other Kenyan. Like I said, u guys should dig deeper into the matter rather than jumping into conclusions like that. Evry country has its own rules which must be adhered to. Perhaps FJ failed to fulfil certain requirements leading to this delay. They should either follow those directives set by KCAA or go to court incase of foulplay. We honestly do not support that there should be unfairness in granting licence to any business entity seeking to open its operations in Kenya cos it doesnt auger well with our reputation as destination hub for investors in EA and it also undermines the efforts by the govt to enable job creation in the country.
R u trying to mean Kenyan airports r having more standards than South African sio? If Air Uganda that got banned at home on noncompliance grounds was flying to Nairobi what makes Fastjet a subsidiary of largest budget airline in the World Easyjet fails to comply? Uache ujinga...protectionism itawamaliza i can't wait kuona TCAA inawafungia kutua Tanzania tuone nani atapata hasara zaidi ukizingatia Tanzania is soon to have another alternative i.e. Fly Dubai!

Back to the point, just received information from an informant within TCAA; Tanzanain authorities are planing to revoke Kenya's permit to land within Tanzania (that is landing permits to JNIA, KIA, ZIA) pending the launch of Fly Dubai to Kilimanjaro, Dar and Zanzibar from 17th October so as not to affect the flow of passengers! Reason being KCAA has violated BASA agreements. lawmaina78, NairobiWalker, hbuyosh

What do they expect to achieve by doing this?

Just a retaliatory act to a misbehaving neighbor that does not follow bilateral agreements thinking he/she is important to go away with her/his unfair practices i.e. protectionism! FYI apart from fly Dubai; ET, SAA, Emirates, Qatar and Turkish Airlines will seriously benefit if KQ is banned and by the time KQ starts to fly again things will not be the same since getting back the landing slots will not come easily.

I as a person don't think Tanzania will be affected since this is a very good year from our tourism and travelling industry and banning KQ from flying to Tanzania will help separating Tanzania's attractions from Kenya's since the two countries are usually sold in packages a thing i don't fancy at all though the Al Shaababs helped sorting Tanzanian attraction from Kenyan cause made Western tourists avoid Kenya and pick Tanzanian packages alone!

As a result this year we gonna earn over US$ 2 and our tourism has continued to stand alone day and night unlike the PEV of 2008 that we got so much affected as trip cancellation affected Tanzania though there was no violence cause of that TZ+KE packages stuff!

Geza Ulole You pipo can't be this irrational pipo. This should be a problem betwn Kenya and UK, not wth Tanzania!
Do you realize this is going to make the airfare rather more costly for ordinary TZs?

Anyway, this is just a rumour and it wont happen.
It must be your obsession with Kenya taking its toll on you.

I do not think KQ rakes such substantial profit in TZ anyway compared to west, southern or north Africa and Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Your anger Geza is pretty misplaced.
Fastjet isnt Tanzanian.

where are the Britons? Am waiting for your complains. I need to explain to you why KCAA is reluctant to give you your licence.

It is called pan Africanism. We would rather promote our neighbors airline than a foreign airline from a country 9000km away.

I thought u said u won't contribute! Check the Fastjet Tanzania board and u will be looking rightly at local owners!

Damn, can we stop going round and round in concentric circles like this?

U said Tz owns 51% stake as per the law. So is Kenya!
Therefore, if that alone shld mean we own the airline, why cant we be free to do whatever we want with it?

I am tired reasoning this out with ya.
Tz has nothing to lose in all this debacle between Kenya and Fastjet (UK).

u will see coming 17th of this month after Fly Dubai (positioned to take KQ slots) launches her operation in Tanzania!

So you think the aggressiveness of KQ promoting that infant airline will make it better than FastJet?

I guess KCCA should pin point what exactly FastJet failed to fulfill to be in operations
